Anyone know if you can cut the 3 "ears" off:

Why would you want to do that?
yes you can.

If I mount 4 units inside the seat squab from below, I'll use a hole saw to cut the holes in the solid foam. And then back fill with a foam plug. So not have the ears would be easier.
