Can't get comfy

Hi,

Struggling to find the right setup whilst racing.
My pedal position seems fine, it's the arms and monitor position that I'm struggling with.

Picture attached ,
If I raise the wheel, I have to raise the monitor so them my eyes are no longer center to the screen, but it feels like the wheel is too low?

Any ideas?.

This is often the main reason why people use a separate stand or have the wheel out the front of the uprights on 8020 rigs, its to get the monitor behind the wheelbase. Almost universally the wheelbase and steering wheel is just ahead of the bottom of the monitor and that is just universal ergonomics for the distance from chest to head, only a very tall person or someone with a very long neck is likely to not do this. This is the reason you don't see rigs designed like yours with the verticals extended.

What I would suggest is you get separate verticals attached to the main body of the rig and use those for the monitor. That way you can place it just behind the wheelbase.

Its notable that rigs like the GT1 from sim lab have the plate that the wheelbase attaches to that keeps just enough space to fit a monitor behind it with attachment to the verticals or horizontals in this way. It is just another way in which that cheap rig design helps keep costs down compared to these specialist DD holders.

I have a simlab monitor mount which I will try fitting tonight.
At present the screen is 63cm away from my eyes, I will try placing it further back behind the DD unit then drop it down a touch.
My screen will then be roughly 85cm away from my eyes

So placing the screen somewhere near this orange line instead?

Yep, if its behind the wheelbase you can lower it down to the right height. Ergonomics over and above ideal screen use every time. The other way I have seen it done less often is to have a monitor arm that allows its placement between the wheel and the wheelbase above the shaft. This i think is risky and gets in the way of quick release but it potentially gets you better FOV use from the monitor and can net you a few centimetres of adjustment downwards. Behind is how most people do it.

So,
I've been messing around this afternoon, with lots of help for a forum member here over on WhatsApp,

First he helped me set up my actual driving position, the wheel is alot closer now, as are the pedals.

I then tried the simlab integrated mount but I couldn't get it far enough away.

So a quick dash out and I bought a floor stand, but mounted it as of it was intergrated.

Now my driving position is much better, the screen is still a close 67cm and it is pretty much exact half way eye level
