Kunos Simulazioni
have released some details on the coming version 1.1 update for Assetto Corsa which will add some much requested and needed features.

Here's the details provided by Kunos:

"Graphics
We are redefining some features related to post processing effects, HDR and particle rendering optimizations that improve graphics environment, lighting and framerate performance. The engine has been optimized in order to guarantee a more stable framerate in all conditions, including single-player and multiplayer races. Smoke effects have been also improved, fixing an issue that affected the performances when huge amount of smoke was generated, especially at race starts.

Artificial intelligence
CPU occupancy has been optimized to guarantee better and more stable performance. Furthermore, we worked to improve interaction of AI with each other and against the player car, as well as their "racing attitude”. The result is less collision accidents, better and more predictable lines and greatly improved race starts, delivering a better racing experience.

Flag and rules
The next build will introduce race flag and rules, including yellow, blue and black flags, both in single and in multiplayer. More details regarding this feature will be available at the release.

Overcast conditions
Next build will introduce the option to define the sky/weather conditions: player can choose between light/heavy fog, clean/light/heavy cloud, that affect lighting, visibility, track temperature, and so on, adding more immersion, different racing scenarios and environmental effects. As usual all the conditions are moddable and new ones can be created by the community.

Damages, views and sounds
Several parameters and functionalities related to damages, head movements, mirrors FOV values, reverberation and environmental sounds have been added or optimized, improving the overall driving and replay experience.

Replays
Assetto Corsa replays are universally appreciated for their fidelity, resulting in very realistic movements, car behaviour and camera management, but resulting also in high requirements in terms of hard disk and memory space. Unfortunately such big files are not easily handled by players who join or organize leagues and online championships. Next build will add quality settings options that allow up to 4x smaller sizes and longer replays.

Pre-order and release date
Assetto Corsa is not in Early Access anymore but that doesn’t mean that development is finished. As promised, the Dream Pack will also include several improvements, optimizations and new features. All the new code features will also be included for free on the main simulation, to allow gamers to enjoy Assetto Corsa and the new Dream Pack even more. However the process needs time to be completed. The release of the Dream Pack and of Assetto Corsa 1.1 is confirmed for Q1 2015. Thank you very much for understanding, for your kind support and passion."

Kunos has certainly done an excellent job so far in terms of listening to their followers and customers, this update appears to be continuing that tradition. The addition of flags will also make league racing much more efficient and realistic, so be ready for some amazing leagues and club races.

All these thing's above sound simply wonderful but how about implementing proper race starts before the DLC. We should be able to sit on the start line with 1st engaged and the clutch depressed like a real racecar, that's not to much to ask is it???

Any news if they are going to change the starts of online racing? Hate the fact there's no count down timer to change your settings much and the fact that when the lights go out your not sure if the person in front is ready an plough straight into the back of them! A more Race07 start would be a better idea.

After qualification, when the race session loads and puts everyone on the grid positions, you get a left side bar where you can change setup, see chat, etc. and press Start (or Race), and below that top button there is a timer. When the grid lights appear on the screen, it means there's 15sec until green light.

Understand all that, its the bit that your in the middle of changing setup and the lights come on, so you have to exit and get ready to start the race. Lights go green, you accelerate straight into the car in front as hes not ready! Would be better if everyone is in the pits and you have 2mins to get onto the grid for the start, all that do start the race, all that dont sit in the pit waiting.

have to agree,

the issue i have is i tweak my setup, usually more fuel as i run less for quali. then it takes ages to verify my setup, by which time the race has started.

The setup validation time is no issue if the person running the server has set it up correctly to allow enough time for the race to start.

This "issue" really just comes down to user error.

All RaceDepartment events are set accordingly to allow more than enough time to make setup adjustments and validation before the race starts.

In real race sometimes the car ahead you won't start due to motor problems or not using the clutch right. Think about it that way and try to avoid the crash!hahahaha
Thanks fine, but normally you have an idea they have issues like arms in the air waving, brake lights flashing or smoke out the car! Don't get that in sim racing, unless they are doing it in there bedrooms.....

im thinking about buying assetto corsa, whats the max laps you can do in any one race? im into endurance racing..also what's max Ai at spa?

at the moment its about 60(not sure) but that's with fuel turned off. This WILL be addressed in future updates because the AI doesn't know a pit box from a cup of coffee at the moment! we have been assured that this will be sorted!

it's still only 75% complete or so; surprising that they released it like this for v1.0 to be honest.
for the moment, forget about proper endurance race with the ai.
regardless, it's the only game I play. great fun.
