Kunos Licensing Manager Marco Massarutto has revealed a new image of the current work in progress 2017 Porsche 911 RSR due to make its debut towards the end of the current month.

When it was announced that the new for 2017 911 RSR would not make it in time to be included in the third Porsche DLC installment for Assetto Corsa, many fans were left disappointed by the omission of arguably the most anticipated car of the three DLC packages. To their credit Kunos acknowledged this disappointment at the time of the announcement and promised Volume Three DLC owners that the car would arrive as a free addition to the pack in January 2017, whilst still replacing the machine from the initial launch with a very nice version of the 911 Turbo S to ensure the full quota of Porsche cars will be met across the three DLC's.

Now we have reached January, Kunos Licensing Manager Marco Massarutto has seen fit to release a 3D render image of the still WIP 911 RSR, showing off the usual Kunos attention to detail in sculpting the fine lines of this new addition to the Assetto Corsa car family.

The 911 RSR itself will make its track debut at the end of this month during the 2017 running of the Rolex Daytona 24 hour event, due to be held on the 28th and 29th January at the famous American venue.

Kunos Simulazioni have released Assetto Corsa for Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game features a number of road and race vehicles with many laserscanned circuits. Additional track and car content can be purchased by way of downloadable content.

One of the best ways to experience Assetto Corsa is to race against your fellow players online. You can do that here at RaceDepartment in our League and Club Racing section of the Assetto Corsa sub forum. yep... but it would be good to see more competition in GT500...
the GT500 specs are more like DTM now...
Actually it's a bit more the other way around, DTM is supposed to become more like GT500. So far GT500 has smaller, more powerful engines and more advanced aero that DTM didn't adopt yet. DTM and Super GT is supposed to merge into one racing class with potential for international series but those plans stalled a bit it seems.

etc.

Why are DTM and GT500 actually not represented as yet? Licencing? Like F1?
Doesn't Race Room have the official modern DTM licence? Licensing a lone car from the respective manufacturer would probably still be possible but without all three it doesn't really make sense. And Kunos did mention that they're not going to license full series (I guess because of cost, they can put the money into other content instead). And as for GT500 cars they did say Japanese manufacturers are difficult to work with, whatever that means. Language barrier, preference for domestic companies (game developers) perhaps, the high pricing of licences like from Honda for example that they previously mentioned. No idea.

Thanks for the info..
In fact both DTM and GT500 share the same "silhouette race car" filosophy (like the old GT1) and they could be merged into the same regulations to do a international championship too...

Yes R3E has the DTM packages...
Kunos is a small studio that has problems in getting some licences and sometimes they find crazy high licensing prices like they mentioned to get the laser scanned Suzuka... This is a pity cause sometimes licences lands in the hands of ugly arcade publishers with a lot of money (EA with Porsche for example)...

If they want to wait for the race results and data, they´d need 2 or 3 more weeks I´d guess to evaluate the data, look at what needs changing, than get into the change and test loop to finally get into beta testing before releasing it at all.
Maybe they have already all data but they haven't rights to release it on Assetto Corsa (but product is already complete, ready to release).

Well if its coming out today the AC are been very low key about it.

Not sure who is making the call on this one the developers or Porsche Motorsport.
With the race tomorrow its looking like it wont be today even though it could still happen.

We are also not sure how close we are to the next big update featuring the new Scottish road course
& some new free cars maybe.

They could drop the new Porsche later today it is not like its going to be massive down load one car.
adding the car ahead of the real race would be good PR for both Porsche , AC & Daytona raceway.
even allowing for the track not been in AC, yes what would be better is that Porsche paid for the licence for the use
of the 24hrs layout.

That would be a very nice move from Porsche who no how to create good PR.
It could be just wishfull thinking but you never know.

I find the silence on the part of the developer odd knowing how the pre hyped stuff in the past.
