Adding Ambient Audio to tracks

Sorry to bother, but does anyone perhaps know how to add Ambient sounds to a track. Or better yet... is there anyone who might be able to assist me with this directly.
I used some crowd sound .gmt's from ROC2008 track and tried getting them to work on another... but with 0 luck.

Help would be much appreciated.
