It is fair to say that oval racing is a big deal in the United States of America. But when several NASCAR Hall of Famers and other big names in North American racing come together to compete in a year-long series, it garners attention worldwide.

That is exactly what the Superstar Racing Experience has done since it hit the track in 2021. Headlined by Tony Stewart, this unique short oval series tackles both dirt and tarmac circuits, all at primetime on ESPN, attracting impressive crowds.

Ever since its inception, the series has had a gaming presence, quickly releasing the SRX: The Game on PC, Xbox One and PS4. But now, it has hit the big time, signing a partnership agreement with iRacing.

SRX Car in iRacing

The Superstar Racing Experience is entering an partnership with the popular online racing simulator, iRacing. It seems the two parties are particularly excited by the announcement.

In fact, the iRacing team is reportedly already working on scanning the SRX car, ready for release next year. The announcement is includes the fact that players will gain access to the SRX car in iRacing from 2024. A date, or release season may not be clear. But given the announcement’s enthusiasm, one should expect all hands to be on deck for as early a release as possible.

In fact, iRacing‘s president Tony Gardner said, “we are excited for iRacers around the world to get to experience what we’ve built firsthand in the coming months!” This could well entail a release in some form or another in December for Season 1 of 2024.

SRX: Dirt and Asphalt Ovals

In addition to the car, SRX features an eclectic mix of circuits. Featuring both paved and dirt covered short ovals, iRacing is surely the perfect title for the series. Indeed, many circuits already feature in the game such as Stafford Motor Speedway, Eldora and Lucas Oil Speedway. On the other hand, Thunder Road, Motor Mile and Berlin Raceway are not yet in the game. So could this partnership also include some circuit additions? Only time will tell.

The variety of surfaces SRX races on makes the upcoming car one to profit from iRacing's recent dirt and oval refresh developments. Racing on either type of surface has seen or will still see significant improvements to the tire model, surface degradation and more. The SRX car should be a perfect candidate to put this to the test, then.

Then another partnership... With whoever got the license. Or call it US Open Wheel whatever... What AMS2 did.
Not sure you followed the news and discussions around Indycar licensing... and who got it, and what is being done with it. But it isnt that easy.

You'll also have to even consider how this unlicensed "Not Cart" will be used in online competitions...

What they have done on tougher instances... was to get licensing from the car maker itself, ie Dallara, but not sure how that would work with 90's content. Going after the now defunct Reynard, Lola? Surely not Penske...

Whatever it takes... They got all the ovals, most of the tracks from the 90s...they got Nascar... And not those things, it's just not complete without this era. There's so many cars which are similar to each other, those would bring a good variation.

AMS2 has those cars sort of licensed, with the actual shapes, brand and model of the chassis (for Reynard, Lola, and Swift that is, not Penske), plus the actual badges of engine manufacturers. Not the actual skins of the cars though, which are also a different matter. So something can be worked out, IF iRacing has the will to do it. And from what I recall on the lengthy discussions held on their forums when I was still an active member, the will was simply not there.
