Rennsport Teases New Car: Cup Racer Coming?

The Rennsport team have teased a new car that will be getting added to the sim. We have a pretty good idea of what it could be.

The closed beta of Rennsport has been available to select sim racers since June. The open beta is also supposedly available soon, with a full release set for December. In the lead up to its release, more and more content is being revealed.

The beta initially launched with the four cars and tracks seen in the ESL R1 esports series. The Praga R1 soon followed suit, and they also announced the future additions of the Porsche 963 and Goodwood Hillclimb. Now, another car has been teased.

New Rennsport Car

We do not have a lot to work with, but it appears plenty of people already have a good idea. The majority of racers in the replies believe it to be the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup car, a very popular vehicle within sim racing that is available across many titles.

The 992 GT3 Cup can be found in titles like RaceRoom, rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa Competizione, and more. Most prominently though, it features on iRacing where it’s used in the headline esports series, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup.

Of course, there will be some confusion since there’s already a Porsche 992 GT3 in the game. But the 992 GT3 Cup is not the same as the 992 GT3 R: The GT3 R is used in GT3 competition like IMSA and GT World Challenge alongside other marque’s GT3 cars.

In contrast to that, the GT3 Cup is used primarily for spec racing like the Grand Prix-supporting Porsche Supercup and other national championships around the world. It’s typically a starting point for drivers to get into sportscar racing.

In terms of statistics, the R and Cup are relatively similar. They both have the same 4.0-litre Flat 6 producing over 500 horsepower, and weigh pretty much the same too. The difference is that the GT3 R has a lot more downforce and grip than the GT3 Cup, and thus is a lot faster around most tracks. Additionally, ABS and Traction Control are disabled in Cup competition.

When Will It Be Added?

The Rennsport team are yet to state when the car will be added. They’re still yet to release the Goodwood Hillclimb and Porsche 963, so it could potentially be added with those. Keep posted to the Rennsport social channels to see when further content is coming to the title.

What do you believe the newly teased Rennsport car is? Let us know in the comments down below!

Have you tried it? Curious to know how it handles
Nothing really to make it stand out from rF2, ACC etc. I can move from one sim to another and get the same general feel that the physics are similar, it's often how the ffb translates from each sim. This is where I feel Rennsport is not working for me. I can feel the physics are on par with other major Sims, but it doesn't communicate it through the ffb to me, especially when trying to catch a slide. Catching the slide seems intuitive, but it's not coming from the ffb!! It's very confusing and because I can't feel it how I like through the ffb, I can't enjoy driving it!

If I'm playing any sim that I enjoy and I turned ffb off, I'd no longer feel connected and cannot enjoy driving. This is what I'm getting from Rennsport, hence I've not touched it for quite a while!

Interesting, what type of wheel do you have? Belt or DD?

Sounds like the original (pre-patch) AMS2 “floatiness” feeling

You make claims that they are changing focus behind the scenes, slow progress, delays… blah blah… but with zero clue about their business strategy, commitments, funding, legal…. If you just want to whine about not getting your shiney new toy soon, then that’s a different story. Marketing, PR, “hype” will happen. Ignore all that and wait for the finished project for you to judge, or come back with something that actually proves there are deadlines not being met here.
What are you even talking about? What deadlines?

Me , or anyone for that matter, dont even know what this "shiny toy" is supposed to be! In 2 years they went from being a "esports platform", to a "pay mod platform" , to i dont even know what now, despite the fact that there was a playable game more than a year ago, and after all this time, we still don't have a clue about when will this be ready, what will it be when its ready, and what will include!

So i dont even know if i want this "shiny new toy" because i don't even know what it is, despite again, more than 2 years of hearing about it! I know people who have beta access, and the only thing there is is a few cars and tracks to hotlap on!...

Just don’t understand your negativity about something - like you said - know nothing about? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but man… complaining about something you haven’t even touched is next level.

I like the direction Rennsport is taking...

Their focus on physics and MP gives me hope that they can get on top of the engine... They aren't wading through a tonne of content when they make a change or wasting time on the AI each time they do something to the player side physics...

Sure it's very rough in it's current BETA stage... But there's a lot of bones to like there...

So I can wait for the content drops... I'd rather more updates than content...

Maybe you should search the difference between "complaining", and "commenting on". It would be good for you, you won't read everything people say that isn't glowing praise as "negativity".

Not looking to read praise, just common sense.

I already really enjoy the 992 Cup Car in RaceRoom, and may get the 992 Cup car in rF2 for the sake of having up-to-date official content to use with the upgraded AI. So seeing this in Rennsport does very little for me right now.

I'm mostly a single player racer, so Rennsport doesn't hold a ton of appeal for me unless their AI racing ends up being quite convincing. That, or if they include cars and tracks that other sims don't. (Real world tracks or serious fictional circuits, not the weird Figure-8 thing they apparently added recently  )

I dont have any issues with a sim adding similar or identical content to other sims. These are my reasons:

1) Simracing is niche compared to genres like for example Assassins Creed or whatever other AAA game so obviously you pick your content based on popularity and it being somewhat modern.

2) Just because many sims share the same tracks and cars it does not mean that they are REALLY the same. There is such a difference in how the 992 Cup feels in iRacing compared to the one in ACC and there will be again a difference compared to the one in Rennsport.

3) While newer does not have to necessarily mean better, its still nice to see a modern tech game offering modern content to see how things develop and how they compare to the same content in a game thats over 10 years old (iracing).

4) I personally do like modern GT3, GT4 and Cup Racing cars.

I get it that within the simracing niché there are also people who like more historic cars or more niché cars within that niché. But honestly, complaining about the fact that a sim is adding a car that is already in 3-4 other sims is like complaining that a first person shooter is adding the M16 to their weapons arsenal because, see, this gun is already in 10 other first person shooters...

Except if they intend to make a grand prix legends 2, i will not understand not to have the most popular (by far) racing car in the real world.
Porsche cup is ALWAYS a fantastic news.

That said, if they choose the subscription business model, i will never have the opportunity to give it a try (same applies to iracing)

most people don't understand which feedback devs want.
They think it only works if they could test 100 cars and 50 tracks.

For good feedback on physics and funcionality a few tracks and serveral diferent cars are enough. A LMP, LMDH and one open wheeler should be next.
Giving us only this small amount of content, does not automatically mean they havent developed much more ready to use content in the last 2 years.
Same with MP. Many complain about this "silly" ESL events, not understanding that this is the best way to get the MP into a very stable and reliable state. Best tested MP ever :)
Its development BETA, not a finalising beta aka early access as most gamers know from the past. Think different ;) They do it right.

That yould be true if they had massive grids and 24hour events like rf2 and iracing do, because that's when the problems arise. but thats not what the ESL events are, they have almost zero relevance to anything simracing.

correct. No relevance for sim racing today.
But relevance for development. Endless data for analysing.
So for the future

Niché ?

There is a lot of talking about Rennsport going on. It surprises me how many people have an opinion about a game which is not released yet. I am just waiting. Only if everyone who has really tried Rennsport doesn't like it or if the price is unreasonably high I won't buy it. But if not, I'll probably just buy it and find out for myself if it's the next big thing in sim racing or just average.

You mean that if I look at a couple of videos and read some articles, I'm not qualified to criticize? :p

How do you know how it drives by just looking at a video or reading some articles? I can't, I like to feel it myself. And how do you know how it will be when it will be released?
