Rennsport Closed Beta Release Date Revealed

RENNSPORT Summit Closed Beta Reveal.png
On Day 1 of the ESL R1 Major, the closed beta release for Rennsport was confirmed along with a couple of other reveals.

In Munich, the top 24 drivers in the ESL R1 season have been narrowed down to 12, with one set to become the inaugural R1 champion. During the broadcast, the Rennsport team including Competition Company CEO Morris Hebecker revealed plenty of plans for the yet-to-be-released sim.

One of those was the closed beta release date, and it’s coming sooner than you might think. 6 June will be when select people who have signed up for an access key can expect to potentially receive an email telling them they were one of the lucky select few.

For anyone who hasn’t already signed up to the waiting list, you can do so here. The first 50% of keys will be handed out to those who first signed up, with the following 50% being randomly assigned. Signing up to the waiting list now can still potentially result in you getting access to Rennsport.

What’s in Rennsport Beta?

Players who gain access to the Rennsport closed beta will have four tracks and five cars available to them. First, there are all the cars that were used throughout the ESL R1 season: the Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020, Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II, Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and BMW M4 GT3.

Along with those are all the tracks that were all raced on during the season. Hockenheimring, Nürburgring GP, Spa-Francorchamps and making its Rennsport debut in Day 1 of the Major, Monza!

Additionally, a brand new car was teased for reveal during the Major broadcast. We speculated that it would be the Praga R1, which turned out to be correct. The Praga will also be available in the Rennsport closed beta.

Unfortunately, the Porsche Mission R and Goodwood Hillclimb – both of which were showcased during the first Rennsport Summit in May 2022 – appear to not be included in the beta.

When the sim releases (stated on the beta page as December 2023), Hebecker confirmed in an interview on the broadcast that Rennsport will not only allow modding, but provide tools within the game to help modders.

The idea is to create the best tools out there that the community can build things they never built before, open up your mind and create the craziest things.

So far I am not impressed.Tracks & cars that are in every other game and a focus on Esports which nobody watches because real racing on tv is always superior. If your only USP is the Praga R1 then who is your customer?

Car already available in RRE and in AC (mod). It's even not a USP... The USP is the graphics at the moment.

EDIT : I've just watched 2 recent gameplays (onboard view) and it isn't impressive at all visually. It may be the video compression, I hope. Because it looks less impressive than what I've seen one year ago.

This trailer is a proof that to make a successful sim you only need a handful of meme cars and tracks. Just SPA + a GT3 would be sufficient for $$$ !

Don't see why I would even consider this over ACC. And ACC is no fuss no drama. You buy the game and you play it.

I recall rennsport was going toward the direction of trying to inject stupid trends like NFTs into their title.

So, tell me how you have no clue without telling me you have no clue?

You've heard of Godwin's Law, here's Jongen's Law:

"As a sim racing online discussion grows longer (regardless of topic or scope), the probability of someone badmouthing Automobilista 2 approaches 100%"

In this instance, it only took two replies :)

Really not seeing anything but another sim on the same tracks as everyone else.
I absolutely agree but, to be fair, not including these modern popular tracks is taking a huge risk as they are mandatory for lots of players. For more casual players it is lile feeling at home. And I assume it is easy and cheap to get a licence for the tracks as their owners must have already all the data a developper needs to build a virtual track. This content may be mandatory but it won't be enough imo to attract customers. All the other sims offer other distinct and unique content, and this is the way to go.

Might as well just play ACC, cant see the point in this title.
Support for mods in a new game. In fact there are already mod gameplays on youtube. I find it very interesting...

ok, but by the time this comes out, Assetto Corsa 2 will be released. Seems like too many players competing for a small space. A huge plus is that they have nothing to do with Motorsports Games.

I agree in principle. The world doesn't need another GT3 at the same old tracks simulator.

However, for beta testing, I can give them a pass. First off, since they're so ubiquitous, the feedback given by testers is likely to be of higher quality. I'd expect a lot more noise (and bug detection, tbf) using a Reliant Robin at Mont-Tremblant, since people would likely have to learn racing lines and be inefficient. Furthermore, textual feedback would likely be less precise. "The wheelspin getting out of Rivage isn't what I expected coming from other titles" or "There's no way a GT3 can't eat those curbs at T1 at Monza, that floor isn't behaving like in other games". I'm not saying the feedback would be correct, but hey, maybe that's what they're going for.

Good news:
I got my Rennsport closed beta invite and code.

Bad news:
It's an Epic store exclusive.

Edit @Julian Strasser beat me to it.

Oh, another no-go for me then. I hope they're done sending out the beta codes, because I signed up but in this case I wouldn't want one and rather have someone else get it.

first modding support video i found. The future looks great i think :)
its in german and the part where you can see something about mod tracks ( btw made by well known AC track mod creator) starts arround 7:50

Having recently watched some of the videos online, the LOD pop in on Unreal is truly irritating.

It seems they obviously cant fix this issue, its vile.

What is strange is that there should be no specific LODs popping up in UE5 as the Nanite technology allows dynamic LODs on detailed objects. I'm not an expert but there's something obviously wrong in the graphics department of this game. It should be much more advanced than all orher racing games and it barely competes with AC vanilla. And it is far from ACC which uses the previous generation of UE(4).
