Most Played Racing Games on Steam in August 2023

Most Played Steam August 2023 F1 Manager 1024.jpg
The popularity of racing games and simulations is hard to gauge, especially since they seem to vary considerably around the releases of new content, big updates or even influences of real-world events. What can be gauged, however, is cold, hard numbers - so we did just that for the most important racing titles on Steam in August 2023.

Note: While iRacing is available on Steam as well, its numbers are not representative as most players acces the sim through its own UI. As a result, its statistics are not included in this article.

While the order remains mostly unchanged compared to previous months, an interesting trend can be made out looking at the numbers: Even the top dogs Forza Horizon 5 and BeamNG.drive were not immune to an almost universal drop in average players across August. With its successor Motorfest on the horizon, The Crew 2 racked up the biggest loss in average players at 60,05%.

Most Player Gains in August 2023

On the other hand, a few titles posted significant gains: My Summer Car's average went up by 35,71%, and F1 Manager 2023 even got 45,29% more players on average compared to July. Additionally, RIDE 5 immediately eclipsed its predecessor despite being released towards the end of August.

Looking at the four-wheel based simulations, only two have gained players throughout August: Automobilista 2 has slightly increased its average player count by 7,79%, and DiRT Rally saw a gain of 2,24% - the game's average remains low at 114, however, which is why it does not feature on our list.

Seems a kind of mean spirited comment.
I remember she was pretty good in Ginetta juniors in the few races she entered and at least she managed to do some real life racing in a variety of series's.

Sorry, how can you promise one person that my comment is mean spirited? If it isn't mean spirited, you make it, because you promised? :)

Don't know about you, but to me facts speak for themselves. If we've gotten to a point as a society where we can't face simple facts because they're not easy to swallow, I think we need to practice more.

Her Wikipedia page displays 0 (zero) next to "Wins". Fact.

What I think is that she was helped get to where she got in her career based on her looks. Like Lance Stroll - an equally great racer - got to where he is in his career based on his father. Obviously for Sophia, looks alone can't guarantee a seat. Just like being daddy's boy didn't work out so well in the end for Lance either. This is the reality of any sport.

Real racers back up their early performances with wins as they grow to more important series. She did the exact opposite as she moved on.

There's 1000s of better racers out there for every single one - good or bad - who makes it in. And that's something Michael Schumacher himself admitted on a talk show once.

Everyone who has ever driven any motorized vehicle on any racetrack at any point in history in any capacity, from frequent track days to The 24 Hours of Le Mans, can all agree on one thing: racing is expensive. Whether that money comes from your family, a business, a benefactor, or your own bank account, real racing costs real money. Over the past 100 years or so, race drivers can thank the likes of John Player & Sons, Parmalat, Banco Nacional, DEKRA, GoDaddy.com, and Lord Hesketh (to name a few) for providing them with the opportunity to showcase their talents. But all drivers pay back those commitments in one way or another. Sophia Flörsch seems absolutely no different in this regard, so I see no reason to view her access to motorsport as problematic. Ms. Flörsch, like everyone else, is welcome to race as long as she can afford it.

I watched her win two races in the UK Ginetta championship 2015 at Thruxton and get a second at Croft. There are others who never did that, I don't doubt there are many better drivers but that doesn't lessen what she's achieved there are many who will never win a race but are still good racing drivers. I'm pretty sure that most of our members on here would love to have gotten the seats she's had from her karting days onwards and especially a 13 place in the 24 hrs Le Mans in 2020.

“Real racers back up their early performances with wins” thats absolute rubbish.

The majority of the racers on any grid will be lucky to get a win in any series. In most classes there will always be one or two exceptional teams and drivers, the rest will be doing the best they can with the ability or funding they have and most of them like anyone will plateau at a certain level.

Grids would be pretty empty if they only allowed ”real racers” based on your definition.

You can argue about who gets funding and a seat and some people will have to work harder than others but without the money no one goes racing beyond the bottom tiers.

You're good at taking things out of context. In racing, sir, if you haven't got heaps of money to begin with, you advance through the ranks based on your performance, like Hamilton or Schumacher did and ended up where they did.

To get back to our point, are you by any chance comparing Sophia Florsch with the likes of Alonso, who can be competitive in just about anything, or.. Michelle Mouton?

You drop in a largely misogynist comment about her looks and then try to balance it with something about Lance Stroll and accuse me of taking you out of context! You’re clearly not worth the effort and this is a thread about ”stats” so I’m out.

Reading comprehension is usually trained in school, but you can try improving it after as well. I said that Sophia is a good looking girl who got to the level she did based on that mainly, not on her 2 wins you remember her for in the Ginetta series and not very much else, her career flopping after that. Compared to another woman with good looks who whipped the Rally Championship in the 80s, alongside the boys.

I agree that you are out.
