The most expensive service in the motor simulation universe will strengthen its base content with three pieces: one car and two tracks.

iRacing has announced part of its new content for the upcoming update of the new season. Starting next week, users can enjoy a whole new car from Toyota. The GR86 Cup is the latest star on the North America Gazoo Racing schedule and takes place on seven of the most iconic tracks ariybd the country. The car has modifications from its base model, detailed on the GR Cup website.

"The GR86 Cup car modifications include Bosch engine management, custom Borla exhaust, SADEV 6-speed sequential transmission, Alcon brakes, JRI adjustable shocks, OMP safety equipment, roll cage, carbon fiber rear wing, 22-gallon fuel cell, TGRNA designed MacPherson strut, Stratasys custom bodywork, a TGRNA designed splitter, and more."

Virginia International Raceway will get some love as well. The track will be updated with the latest data and technologies and will also be part of the base content. Users who purchased the track in the last three months will have a full refund.

On the Dirt Road category, there is news too. Wild West Motorsports Park will enrich the base content (with a full refund for the last three months' buyers) and two more legacy free tracks will have Dirt Road configurations. Daytona and Phoenix will make the Rookie level much more accessible and coherent eliminating Joker Laps from the rallycross tracks.

iRacing will be deploying these and more S1 2023 updates next week, popularly known as the 13th week when the service tests the new features and content before the official beginning.

In November you could subscribe for $75 for a year. Subtract the $40 in credits you get each year for participating and it's just $35 per year - $3 per month. That's a price available to everyone, new or old.
understand...

I have to pay for 1 full year
Buy some content
Go for 3 races per week for 1 year

And the next November, you can renew for 1 year for $3/month.

Easy.

But if I do it now, I'll have to wait until 2024... I don't get to November 2023.

Every damn Iracing thread has to derail. Every single one of them. It's like a law of nature.
but it wasn't me, I posted one text and that was on the new content :) edit: plus one line replying to a chap's question

You are ignoring all the context that was there and putting your own spin on it. I pointed out, $35 is what he explained he paid.

Some one asked how they could get it for $3 a month and he showed how he was getting it for $3 a month.

I get it for $3 a month, others do to. if you are new to the service you get a 50% discount but you can do your own homework on what that costs. From then on anyone can get it for $3/month. $35 a year is all you need to pay if you regularly use the service.

That is $35 real dollars, most people buy it in one of the two sale periods, then you get your participation credits deducted.. You can pay $35 a year or real money.

Thats cheap, heck I pay over 50% of that to support this site that I also get value from, I see you like free here too, everywhere it appears.

It's as convincing as "$1000 dollar value but we are selling it tonight at ... "

i just took a 3 years break with simracing, i'm back now, and the only one which can offer me 24/7 competitive and fun races is still Iracing.
some bucks remained on my account for my participation in championship plus 25% on my 1 year renewal, so i paid something like 50 $ for one year...
How many of you (talking to the guys who complain evryday) spend these 50 $ for tobacco or something else really usefull ?
:O_o:

Its a non-point, If you pay for something it isn't free, if they expand upon what you are paying for, it still isn't free.

Further to that its not possible to have free content in a subscription model, You are paying for access and then have to make repeat payments to maintain access.

No point discussing the math when the very concept of free seems to be beyond you...
Comical that you still refuse to say the number zero. You are the one missing the entire point of this article :roflmao:

Iracing has the best online experience hands down with levelling driver experience via IR and making most players drive responsibly via SR.

You can find well-populated practice sessions and races 24/7 which is not true for any other sim i know.

The freedom to participate in any series i like and on most of the tracks in those cost me around 400 bucks and I am almost exclusively racing there now because there is always something meaningful to do.

I am enjoying other sims too for various reasons, but that is only to paly around and have fun.

Thats the facts, the rest is personal preference.

I don't understand why Iracing cannot sell an "offline" version for those not too bothered about multiplayer, I would imagine a fair few would get an online sub from time to time, also people who previously race online who stop paying the sub have the game revert to offline, so people can still "play" what they bought, but they just can't use the muiltiplayer infrastructure without the sub. Surely that's win/win for everyone?
Because that’s not their business model… online racing is what they are known for and it’s been working for what, 14 years? While other games have a much shorter life.

There’s no need for a “win/win” in this scenario

You can play ACC and rF2 offline easily. I have no problem buying content my issue as a single player has always been why the hell must I be online to play/access content I already paid for that is mine?? Start of the year my internet was down for over a week and that was an eye opener as to what sims I should invest on and drop.
Of course you can, and I do. Iracing is not anywhere close to my main sim. My point to the guy I responded to was that there is no harm in trying it for 3 months just so he can say he tried it and gave it a fair shot. The ai is actually excellent as well.
ACC offline is legit, RF2 offline is not a great experience as it takes a lot of testing to calibrate the ai even if you aren't using modded tracks and unless you get a mod pack that already has a driver list (Max Verstappen, Alonso, Hamilton, etc.) then you have to mess around and create it if you want to run a championship that has consistent drivers. RF2 has one major advantage though in that you can do an actual 24hr race by yourself in multiple sittings with the "continue" function so that is amazing.

Strange how the iracing and rF2 topics get out of hand every time...:O_o:

You guys are so much boring.

Complaining about the subscription since 2008, in the mean time so many racing sims went and gone, but iRacing was always the reference point.

Now end of 2022 is still pushing strong, and it is at his best.

I'm happy to not be poor like you that can't afford it, waiting to buy the Sim of the moment at discounted price.

Just shut up e let the people with the money enjoy and discuss about it, for the others, you can buy AC for 4$ at the next sale.

Guys, this discussion is starting to go round in circles.
I'm not a subscriber but had no problem understanding what "free" meant in the iRacing concept and I'm pretty sure everyone else did as well, even if they pretend not to.
So how's about discussing the actual new content.
I'm going to stick with the universally understood and accepted definition of free, rather then the one with iracing spin.

Which, considering the iracing spin definition is the opposite of free, I would suggest a reasonable person would reconsider there stated position.

iRacing clearing represents great value to a large player base, None of what I have said is a negative opinion on the cost. After all value and "expensive" are all relative to each individual and all our circumstances are different.

My input was in relation to the absolute crap and spin being peddled. You can't just change the meanings of words and concepts to suit someone elses marketing, ......and why would you want to? Simple fact checking and a basic level of comprehension and bullshit clearly looks like bullshit.

Going great lengths to try and talk your way out of the fact that you know but can’t admit. The price of those 3 items for a subscriber.

There’s no spinning, there’s no confusion, there’s no peddling.

I will enjoy driving that GR86 around VIR for an extra zero dollars

Your wrong, metla said it's not free. In fact what I think he was trying to say is that we all got a discount because we have more content for the same price. Thanks for the discount iracing!

edit, i dont want to get the wording wrong, that gets us in trouble. so maybe not a discount. it must be a price drop.

If the cost remains the same and the content makes up that cost and we get more content for the same price then the other content dropped in price. Tahnks for the price drop iraing!
