Epic Racing and Special Guests in the Latest Ferrari Velas Esports Series Europe Show

Immense racing, big results and special guests Charles Leclerc and Maya Weug headlined the final qualification show of the Ferrari Velas Esports Series in 2022.

What a night of esports action! As usual, the Ferrari Velas Esports Series served up another impressive display of virtual racing drama during the second, and final, qualification show of the 2022 season.

Utilizing a changed format for this year, whereupon esport racing hopefuls have to progress through a series of qualification races, Regional and then Global finals, the challenge is more intense than ever before - while the racing remains just as fraught!

For this second, and final, qualification show of the year, 96 drivers would take part across four qualification races, with the goal of securing a top three finish in the respect event in order to secure a place in the Regional Finals.

With four races, four tracks, two simulations and only 12 spots up for grabs, it would be fair to say the action out on track was pretty spectacular – and you can check it out in full via the VOD broadcast below:

Race 1 – Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya​

First up in the evening would be a mainstay circuit in recent sim racing competitions – the popular Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and the Assetto Corsa simulation.

Opening with one of the more popular and well regarded tracks in virtual motorsport, the race would prove to be an instant classic for viewers at home. Up front, Dario Lemmulo would produce a very, very solid performance in the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo, taking a resounding victory ahead of Dominik Ulman in second, with Croatian driver Jurica Slovinac coming home an eventual third place, and with it taking the final qualification spot for the European Regional Finals.

Race 2 – Circuit of the Americas​

A new track for the Ferrari Velas Esports Series this year, and a fairly new addition to Assetto Corsa Competizione, the Circuit of the Americas is one of the more exciting modern racing venues to be introduced in the real world, and that excitement certainly found its way into the world of virtual motorsport for this event, as one of the most anticipated tracks to be introduced to Assetto Corsa Competizione in recent months.

Jumping in at the deep end, using the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, French star Hugo Merlhes immediately proved himself to be the star of the show, securing a solid advantage to the line from Federico Pedrini to take race victory, while Filip Slaski would produce a robust display in third, to secure the last qualification place at the US venue.

Race 3 – Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps​

A classic track, and a classic race would present itself for the third event of the evening at Spa-Francorchamps. Well known throughout the world of both real and virtual racing, Spa is a sensational venue in which to go motor racing and the Ferrari Velas Esports Series drivers certainly didn’t disappoint, with a resounding charge from Alessandro Miraglia at the front of the field capping a very hard fought day of action.

Just behind Miraglia, Spanish driver Unai Cabo would end the race in a strong second position, with Maurice Strijker rounding out the podium places.

Race 4 – Indianapolis Road Course​

For the final race of the evening, we would return to Assetto Corsa Competizione and another brand-new circuit to the series – the road variant of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

As a track with ample opportunity to overtake, Indy would produce one of the hardest contested events of the second qualification series, with close battles taking place throughout the field, even if the opportunity to break out of the qualification races would prove a bridge too far for the majority of the field.

Laying down a stronger marker for his rivals at the head of the field, Andrea Miatto would take a comfortable victory come the chequered flag, backed up by Krill Sadyrov in second, and Luca Vernole taking the bottom step of the podium, and with it the final Regional Final position for our European cohort in 2022.



All in all, the 2022 season of has already proven to be a qualified success, and with the preliminary races now completed, the real action is about to kick off as we first head to the Regional Finals on September XXX, before the top drivers from both North America and Europe come together for an on site final in Italy, and with it, the chance to become the overall Ferrari Velas Esports Series champion – following in the footsteps of previous series victors Giovanni de Salvo, and Kamil Pawlowski.
