RaceRoom To Add BMW M2 CS Racing, Two More BMWs

More content is heading RaceRoom's way: Three BMWs are coming to the sim in May, the first one being the BMW M2 CS Racing.

ACC racers will likely be familiar with the BMW M2 CS Racing - it is BMW's 450-hp touring car that is already in the Kunos sim and runs in one-make series, as well as in the NLS and Nürburgring 24 Hours in real life. The car sports a 3-liter twin-turbo straight 6 engine and paddle shifters, making it relatively easy to tame.

Close racing should be guaranteed in the M2 CS Racing. It will release with various real-world liveries and is intended to be an upgrade over the BMW M235i already available in RaceRoom.

However, the car is just one of three to be added to the sim in May. RaceRoom themselves state that "we are adding 3 exciting new BMW cars to RaceRoom". The M4 GT3 is already in the sim, both as part of the latest DTM packs and as an entry into the GTR 3 class, so it can most likely be ruled out.

What else could be coming, though? Well, there is a wealth of historic racers that could still be coming - and a contemporary prototype by the name of BMW M Hybrid V8 currently running in both IMSA and WEC. The other two cars are set to be unveiled in the next few days.

What other BMWs could RaceRoom be adding this May? Let us know your guesses on Twitter @OverTake_gg or in the comments below!

Being an update to the M235i...will it be free for those of us who already have it?

I can't imagine that Raceroom will ever add real Le Mans Hypercars. They can't even afford the license for the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, so starting the LMDH collection with a BMW and not more than maybe the Porsche to come would be ridiculous in my eyes.
I think we'll get some historic ones, the 2002 turbo and the 3.0 CSL, each in their own categories.
Apart from the hypercar, which of BMW's contemporary race cars is even missing in Raceroom?

I guess the author wanted to point out that the rookie races on Raceroom, which are often driven with the M235i, might be driven with the M2 in the future. I don't know if they've ever added a car that was actually free.

It's just a move to make people who already bought packs obsolete and force to buy "new" cars to be able to race in ranked servers.

It might sound ridiculous to you, but licensing cars is not always logical. Licensing costs vary wildly between manufacturers and even different game developers talking to the same manufacturers. So if (and I'll take your word for it) they can't afford the Lambo, that does not mean that BMW hypercar is also too expensive. And sometimes, manufacturers will offer you a good deal if you do a collection of cars (for various reasons).

My experience is quite the opposite (and the main reason why I don't play RaceRoom much anymore) - it's usually the same base-pack items that are being used, at least on the populated servers. Racing the same car/track combos again and again, over and over gets boring after a while.

The only essential update that I've been waiting for for a very long time is to finally be able to play offline. 140 € outlay with some DLC and not being able to play the game without connection is a shame, a total lack of respect coming from the publisher towards its customers ! Raceroom is very good game but do something for those who don't have a good connection, please. :(

Even me as a German, I don´t care about more BMW cars anymore! Ok, I would be a bit satisfied with the M8 GTE, but I don´t think, it will come. Even two GTE cars don´t make fun.
So if new content, why not completing the GTE class!! What about the Corvette C8? Ford GT or Mustang!

The M2 is fun in ACC, being so different from the other cars - but that game has the advantage of superb track modelling for one. You can feel every bump in that car. It will be an interesting comparison.

I wonder what RaceRoom could do realistically for me to prioritize the game, short of a complete overhaul. The talk of drifting does nothing for me. I would welcome another track like the Lakeview Hillclimb, a tarmac rally stage really. Or an old school type road course along public roads. Think of the Longford 1967 mod for AC and rF2.

If they were to transform one element of the game, I'd want to see them start with single player, AI races. The AI always feel so disconnected, not bothered by compromised traction or contact.

The shopping cart :D

Exactly. Just look at the Ferrari 296, it is not included in the Premium Pack...for a reason. Probably Ferrari wanted to be special. Now, with Ferrari doing this, imagine what Lamborghini could want then!?

I just wished Raceroom would really look like on the pics above
Maybe, juuuuuuust maybe, your wish will be granted... (imagine faking promo pictures)

Well, I would like to see the GTE and Group 2 car, so we can fill up the single car classes. I don't need the LMDh, just to have another single car class like the DPi. Even the M2 I don't need, i'm fine with the 235i.

I haven't launched the game lately, since the great tyres updates which broke the AI.
A few weeks ago, someone here on RD told me they didn't need help anymore (the devs had asked for feedback to the community) because the job was almost down for all track / car combos. And in the recent RRE topics many are complaining about the AI. And since this famous update, I've never see any AI update in Steam.
We, who have paid to use this sim, need answers : what has been happening with the AI? What difficulties are the devs experencing with it? When will it be fixed? It's been several months now. I usually give my full support to RRE but this situation is now unacceptable, especially when annoucements are made about new content.

Yes it's been broken for a while now, reminds me that the same thing happened in rF2, which like RRE went from the best AI to terrible and it took them ages to get it back to a reasonable standard.
Hopefully they'll not take too long to fix it.
