Playing with toy cars could be viewed as childish, but Milestone proved that it can be enormously fun regardless in 2021 - and it intends to do so again: Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 - Turbocharged sets out to take the tiny-vehicle-based racing game to the next level. And its not just the addition of bikes that should take care of the job.
More than 130 vehicles, the addition of motorcycles and ATVs, two new abilities - Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is not holding back when it comes to new features. Five new environments with different surfaces that affect vehicle behavior and performance will be available, including objects off and on the track that they can interact with.
"We are truly delighted with the enthusiasm shown by the press and players toward the first title, a global success that reached more than 8 million players worldwide," said Luisa Bixio, Milestone CEO. "Building on the solid foundation that granted us unanimous acclaim, with Hot Wheels Unleashed™ 2 – Turbocharged we decided to create a brand-new gaming experience to raise the bar of arcade fun even higher.

While a lot of the allure of the game lays in multiplayer races, with the popular split-screen mode making a return in Turbocharged, a brand-new singleplayer campaign will be introduced. Focusing on four original characters, the story is going to unfold via cutscenes to present their backgrounds and characteristics. No further details regarding the career mode have been given yet, however.
Two new abilities will make gameplay in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 even more exciting, with the game introducing dash and jump for players to use to their advantage. Dashing can be used in multiple ways, including bumping into opponents or avoiding obstacles, while jump will allow for overtakes, discovering shortcuts or other sections of the circuits.
More Capable Editors
Off the track, players get to be more creative than in the first iteration of the game: A refined Track Editor is on board featuring new modules and features to make user-created circuits more intricate, and the Livery Editor will see the addition of a Sticker Editor. The creations can be shared with players on any platform, excluding the Nintendo Switch. This is the result of Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 - Turbocharged introducing cross-play to all its versions, the Switch likely being omitted due to hardware limitations. Still, being able to race and share user-edited content no matter if you are playing on PC (via Steam/Epic Games), PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S or Xbox one is a welcome implementation of a feature gamers keep asking for with many titles.
