BeamNG Receives Biggest Update to Date

BeamNG 027 Update 01.jpg
BeamNG has been updated to version 0.27, which adds new content and several gameplay and physics improvements.

BeamNG's 0.27 update is touted as its biggest to date. There is a bias toward off-road driving in this update, with no fewer than five new off-road vehicles on offer, and a mountainous desert map known as Johnson Valley to explore.

The perception of BeamNG as a legitimate driving simulator and not just a crash simulator has increased significantly in recent updates. The relentless dedication to vehicle physics established early within the title has served as a perfect platform to create a realistic driving feel for its growing list of content.

Unsurprisingly, a number of physics and gameplay updates also await players as part of the 0.27 build. Customizable bypass shock absorbers, revised EV modelling, 31 new missions, refueling in the Johnson Valley map, and improvements to audio filtering and the bloom effect.

Let us know your thoughts on this update, or anything else BeamNG related, in the comments below. What is your favourite thing about this title? What do you hope they improve in the future?

The game is still in alpha state and even by now it already beats efforts by big budget AAA companies out there. Simply the most fun sim ever! Never change, BeamNG devs!

Two minor things that bug me off are color palette in day/night night/day transition and night lights. The lighting in the evening and in the morning is very unrealistic and too psychedelic with weird color shifts. Hope they'll fix that soon. Also, lo beam and high beam light up the frontal area behind the car too dimly — in some maps I can barely see where I am going.

Other than that, I love the game. Tried it thinking I'll play a couple of hours to refund then and here I am after hundreds of hours and 600+ installed mods playing BeamNG non-stop.

Still playing around in Photo Mode and managed to figure out how to get more than 1 vehicle in a shot...I know noob here:redface:.
Question: How do I get back into the other vehicles that I have posed in a screenshot:O_o:...I am in the Dunekicker in the below screenshot, but want to get back into the Stambecco and move it slightly without disturbing the placement of the Basher and Dunekicker?

Pretty sure there's a mapping for ‘get out of the vehicle’, which presumably also works as ‘get into the vehicle’.

Useful when delivering cargo that is about to drop off the trailer: you can go out and push the crate back into position.

Yeah you can press TAB. Or if you prefer, you could press F to exit the car, then walk to another vehicle and press F to take the driver seat.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.
Found this way as well - 'Main Menu > Manage > Switch'...and I was able to jump into each vehicle and position each vehicle to my liking...mind blown:inlove::inlove:
...definitely going to have some fun with this in Screen Shots

I bought this about a month ago and it never works. I can't get it to recognize my DD1. I go into the settings and have it key it in. It shows it working. I then go out of the settings and it doesn't work or if it does the steering is awful. Then if I change a car POOF doesn't even know it is there at all. I do this under generic vehicle so it shouldn't do this. It also screws my memory. Says 80 percent full. Runs slow. Really irritated about it. I have 16 gig ram and a nvidia 2070 video card. should not run like I have an integrated video card. I own ACC, Asetto Corsa, Raceroom, Rfactor 2 and a bunch of other games. I can run those at high settings and no problems. Why does this run like a beta test? Anyway, enough ranting. Anything I can do to fix this. I really want this to work.

when BeamNG goes VR it will hit HARD into the other sim arenas.. Im glad to say the triple screen is working much better in this last release at least.
On many maps I'm happy to get 50-60 fps on low, 40 fps with reduced traffic like Italy on 1440p, 49". Switching from 2080 to 3080 didn't do any improvement and upgrading my i7 10700k to a 13700k would in the best scenario give me 30% better framerates. Certainly not enough running VR and the devs should really start optimising their content. AC-conversions like the Nordschleife and Spa run about 3x better than similar BeamNG content. For me it seems that trackside objects have way too many polygons and if VR has one problem is rendering too complex mesh objects. So no way VR will be playable with this bad graphics optimisation and just surprised nobody is mentioning the elephant in the room. Only the desert maps provide reasonable performance and it seems major incompetence is the reason for that. They should ask this Kirby who did the AC-conversions to do their job. His first Nürburgring version had similar bad fps and than performance tripled without obvious graphic reductions.

Happily progress is mostly forward. Remember when ACC was unplayable in VR by people with potato computers, its been out long enough for most of those people to buy decent hardware and the complaints have dropped off. im a patient man. fwiw 3080ti/19 9900kf / 64gb ram and all maps play fine even in triple screen.

will try grab my setting for you I'm running DD1 as well and great FFB etc. here is how I setup mine, hope it helps.

NOTE!! you must click the apply button when you assign control, just seeing the control working in the input graph does not mean its assigned you must click APPLY, and this is a for every single axis or button you map.

(just noticed all my talking while I'm driving is inaudible, apologies wasn't saying anything of importance anyhow)

EDIT:
and some gameplay

RTX 3080 with i7 10700k, 32 GB RAM is not a potato and ACC would still be very bad in VR, if Kunos haven't optimised it as well. I rather guess you got used to low fps with your VR-usage and your triples are just 1080p or am I wrong? Can you run 60 fps average on Italy with traffic on? Just activate the fps-counter in Steam (settings>In-Game) to check.

Even if, for VR you want 100+ fps in 4k to not fall under 60 fps in VR if it's not a CV1 or similar. Your system is just okay enough to run 2nd gen. VR headsets like the Vive Pro and Valve Index in well optimised titles relatively reasonable, but the new headsets come with 4k'ish resolution and VR needs about 50% more pixels than the native resolution for actually looking like native resolution. BeamNG runs worse than Cyberpunk 2077 on high/ultra and before thinking about VR, they should first make it fly in pancake-mode.

i think the point is escaping you.. under the hood a WHOLE lot more is being simulated in BeamNG, all the soft body physics etc.. but as the hardware continually gets better so does the experience, same as was with ACC.. with poboy hardware you had to turn it all the way down, now with better hardware can be cranked up.

Merry Christmas by the way. The track and cars were free.. :)

Having a play with adding another vehicle in the view to use the headlights on the second vehicle to kick a bit more light into the shade side of the posed Rock Basher....much like adding a 'Reflector' in Photography to add fill light in the shadow areas.
I find this interesting anyway;):geek::redface:
