The big update to v1.9 changed Assetto Corsa Competizione considerably, with its refined physics having been met with positive feedback from many sim racers since its PC release in April. Console racers are still waiting for the update and new content - but not for long: V1.9 and the 2023 GT World Challenge Pack DLC are coming on June 27th!

Sim racers hitting the virtual track on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S have had to wait for three quarters of a year for v1.8, which first dropped in late November of 2021 for ACC's PC version. This time, the wait is much shorter - just over three months after the big PC update, console racers get to enjoy the same improvements for 2023.

This means that the improved physics of v1.9, including its reworked tire model, are coming to the console version as well. Developer Kunos Simulazioni cites "better mechanical grip, predictable handling, reduced heat stress on tires, and a more stable aerodynamic balance" as the result of a reworked suspension system. Racers who want to understand the new physics in all its detail, Kunos has also released a deep dive on v1.9 physics notes, comparing the improvements to 1.8.

2023 Content is Coming

Meanwhile, console sim racers can look forward to the content that has recently been released for the PC version as well: The 2023 GT World Challenge Pack roars onto both PlayStation and Xbox, including the all-new Ferrari 296 GT3, Lamborghini Huracàn EVO2, and Porsche 911 GT3 R, as well as the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. The McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, which was released as a free addition to ACC, will join the trio of new vehicles. Additionally, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo has received considerable attention under the hood - its updated version is going to be part of v1.9.

Both the free update and the 2023 GT World Challenge Pack are scheduled to be released on June 27th, meaning sim racers can look forward to giving one of the new or reworked cars at Valencia very soon already.
