Anniversary Credits: iRacing Gifts Members up to 15$

iRacing 15th Anniversary Credits 2023.jpg
On August 26th, iRacing turns 15 years old. The service is celebrating its anniversary with weekly series of events - but that is not all: All active members will receive a small "thank you" in the form of iRacing credits!

While 15 sim racers who participated in all of the anniversary series will be picked to receive 1000 iRacing credits, all memberships that are active as of August 26th will have a nice, small present by iRacing: Depending on when they first joined the service, they are going to receive up to 15$ in iRacing credits "as a thank you to our fantastic members", as Associate Producer Greg West states in a forum post.

The amount of credits is determined by the length of a membership: Each full year that has passed since an iRacing membership first started is worth 1$, which is also the minimum for any active members - "even if you created you account on August 25th of this year", West explains. Conversely, the maximum amount is 15$ for those who joined in 2008.

Memberships do not have to be continuous, meaning that if you first signed up with iRacing in June 2010, then took a long break and only got back into the sim in 2022, for example, you will still receive 13$ worth of iRacing credits. Should you have an old account floating around, it might be worth dusting off ahead of August 26th. Steam memberships are also included in the giveaway.

I've got an old account from 2010 or 2011 still out there somewhere. But it costs $20 dollarydoos to renew the account. I would have rather had a free month of game time.

Yup. It's a good business move. Lets say you get $6. That cannot be used for anything in itself. So gotta spend a bit to buy something.

I considered rejoining for this. But it is $13 for a month, and I will get... $13...
Where do you live that it costs $13 per month? Buy a 2-year membership around Black Friday and it's only $6 per month, or less than $3 per month after participation credits...

Any other sims give you money back 15 years later?
Any other sim dosnt cost me 100 a year and 15 per car and track. Has massive net code issues. Physics issues. Toxic developer's. 60hz ffb. Graphics from the early 2000s.

So yeah. I racing is the best and generous thing ever right?

This is all fine, if you actually use it for 24 months.
Well thats what iracers who use it and intend to use it for a while do, it just makes sense.

I don't see the need to assume that they are conning you in to spending more money. Iracers who like the service will buy the next track, and it will cost them $6 less if they got $6 credits.

Sim racers are not stupid people who go, whoa! got $6, gonna spend $30 more i never wanted to.

I think you are putting quite a bit of opinions on me, which I havent said...

Many doesnt race iRacing all the time.
Some are just seasonal simracers, others use multiple sims. Personally I cram in a year worth of work hours in 8.5-9 months. Those months are not really simracing-months for me. Buying a year or 2 years when I only have 3 months where I can put in quite a few hours is a waste.

And conning? It's not a con. It's smart. It a good business move. It gives goodwill, and an incentive to spend a bit of money. It's easier to buy that one extra track or car when you suddenly are halfway there.

I didn't quote what you said but I only tried to address what you said. Rather than imply that they are conning you it would have been better to for me to say what you are implying is a cynical way to look at things.

Of course it may not be a fit for you, thats fine, I didn't know you were addressing your own circumstances initially. Similarly I have never bothered saying ACC is not a worthwhile purchase if you are only going to put three hours on it because its mostly only relevant to myself, even though generally true that something you buy and don't use can be seen as a waste of $.

On that basis I could ask why I keep paying for premium here at RD, I have never used a premium features or got anything from th site I couldnt without paying? Still I am happy to support things I like and many places benefit from people who also think like this and give the benefit of the doubt.
