A Preview From Drivers Pack DLC for Raceroom

Sector3 Studios has published a new video for its incoming DLC called Drivers Pack. Now they introduce us Mazda MX5 Cup, a truly modern classic car.

Next Wednesday 14th December we will have the chance to try and drive four new cars coming in this unexpected DLC from KW Studios. Here we already talked about Circuit of Charade and its preview and now it is the turn of Mazda MX5 Racing Cup car.

Mazda MX5 Racing Cup is the probably last generation of this car to be propelled by a combustion engine. This is the fourth generation of the car and it has gained multiple recognitions around the world. It was unveiled in 2014 and it has been in production since 2015 being also the base chassis for two Abarth models.

"The Cup shows just how few modifications you need to make to an MX-5 to turn it into a bona fide racer. There’s the roll-cage for safety, an uprated ECU and improved cooling, a strengthened transmission, you can upgrade the suspension… and that’s about it. You just don’t need to do much to it – although being such a pure platform you can if you want: the possibilities are endless, as shown in the tuning scene."

With this car, KW Studios hope to fill a basic multiplayer gap for the newcomers, allowing them to fight in an equally matched series which was essentially fun.

Also, you will have three more cars to enjoy and one classic track. Praga R1 is the car driven by Jimmy Broadbent in two last seasons and two Crosslé models along with their test track in France: Charade.

Well I gave a couple of the cars a quick go but only had time for about 15 minutes. Tried to 90F - a bit twitchy and softly sprung and also the MX5 - pretty nice drive, has that just one more go and I'll really nail it feel. Certainly a good beginners car but also one that's good for learning tracks with and nailing lines.

I downloaded the Drivers Pack and tried the Crosslé 90F on Circuit de Charade. Fun.

It's fun to try and get the most out of the limited power of the 90F. There is an official competition active for the next few weeks and it will be a challenge to stay in the top part of the leaderboard. This may give me more incentive to improve my heel-toe shifting.

I took the pack out on the Bilsterberg circuit. The 90F and 95Fs are a bit of handful despite the low power. It's all bit like driving with a bowl of water in the car. Try and keep those weight transfers smooth.

The other two can be hammered a lot more but are no less rewarding. The Praga was a lot more composed than I was expecting.

I've already tried the Crosslé Formula, and the others look great. But which kind of Formula is the Crosslé? Formula 3?
I'm not sure what formula.
I believe the Crossle has a Ford Zetec twin cam in it. They are usually 1800cc or 2- Litre. I think the Crossle of old usually had a 1600cc/1700cc X-flow Ford cortina GT engine in them.

They were I think originally Formula Ford cars. This one in game is a kind of upgraded/modernisation of a FF car.
Would love very much to go to France and take a course in the real thing. The racing in this new car and track pack will be amazing I hope. All the best races I've ever had have been in the lesser powered cars. Specially if on smaller or more twisty circuits.

Yes, the Crosslé 90f is exactly what Paul_V said, a Formula Ford with a Ford Zetec engine ;)

The Classic Racing School Crosslé 9s is also running a Ford Zetec engine, although many chassis over the world are powered by various engines such as : Lotus 1600 Twin Cam, BMW M10, BMW M12, Ford Cosworth 2L etc.

And I bet as such with that extra power and modern brakes and shock absorbers etc they must be mega fun to drive. Like grown up Caterham 7. Right up my street.

I could be Jimmy Clark in one of those. ( well sort of !)

Indeed, it's a very fun car to drive, but you still need to be careful because of the tight tires.

The guys in the racing school are sometimes mounting some old F2 wheels on the 90f, which pretty much results in a late 60's Formula 2 ;)
