Update March 8, 14:20 CET
Carlos Sainz will not take the start of the race. The Spaniard has been diagnoses with appendicitis, meaning Prema F2 driver Oliver Bearman is going to make his Grand Prix Debut at Jeddah. Remarkably, the 18-year old had scored Pole Position in Formula 2 qualifying - not knowing that instead of getting to start the F2 race from P1, he would actually be in a Ferrari F1 cockpit come race day.

After an uneventful round one, the Formula One circus travels across the Middle East to Saudi Arabia for round two of the World Championship.

Comparing Bahrain to the Jeddah street circuit is like comparing the World Endurance Championship and Formula One - two completely different beasts. The fast-flowing nature of this high-speed venue is sure to produce a different experience to Bahrain. The tyre-shredding stop-start layout of Bahrain could not be further from the upcoming Jeddah street circuit if it tried.

The opening round of the season at Bahrain saw pre-season testing concerns become a reality as Red Bull once again proved this year will be a fight for second place. The battles behind did not particularly inspire fans either with a fairly processional display from 1st to 20th.

Red Bull In Strife?
Coming into the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Red Bull are in front of both championships. However, their team boss Christian Horner is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

The Red Bull team principal was cleared by an internal investigation last week following allegations of 'inappropriate behaviour'. This weekend has altered the trajectory of this story entirely. Horner's accuser has been suspended from Red Bull Racing. Leaked text messages, allegedly involving Horner, mean the story remains very much in the public eye.

Max Verstappen's father Jos has been claiming the issues within the team threaten to tear Red Bull Racing apart from the inside out.

Alongside the Red Bull controversy, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is currently under investigation for allegedly overturning Fernando Alonso's 10-second penalty at last years Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

F1's Most Boring Season?
Aside from Red Bull's issues, the rest of the grid has a lot of work to do. The front runners are in a league of their own, as proven by the procession at Bahrain. Ferrari has to close quite the gap to Red Bull, and teams like Mclaren and Aston Martin are likely to be fighting closer to the front come mid-season.

It is all well and good having pace in the mid-season, but by the time the results start to come for these other teams, will Red Bull be home and dry? What do you want to see from the midfield over these next few races?

On the Horner situation, some information says that RB was ready to fire him until his legal team threatened action. I find that hard to believe because, imagine how many people who are about to fired, could save their jobs by threatening legal action.
Very rarely do you get to see a coup d'tat play out in public, so we should enjoy this while it lasts.

As for the F.I.A. president phoning up to say change the Alonso results, he should have known better if he did it and should be relieved of command. This is akin to that dumb sh!t Michael Massi did in 2021.

About the race, LH has checked out on MB. I said it. It's obvious. Lando will win, with Checko 2nd and Alonso 3rd.

Tsunoda will punch Riccardo in the throat. Logan Sargent will prove once again that anyone can ATTEMPT to drive an F1 car.

It's rights out and away we go!

Thank heavens they didn't behead Lewis Hamilton for his gay helmet last year. Or the F1 academy ladies.

Alonso is the best in the second training session. Having started training with Hard and Medium, everyone finished it on Soft, assessing the potential of the tires for tomorrow's qualifying. The wind and traffic got in the way.
Bottas spun around in the first corner due to brake problems. Sargent almost crashed into Hamilton, who had slowed down, driving over the curb. Lewis was warned for this, and the team that did not warn him was fined. There were many dangerous incidents, but there were no accidents.Stroll was shown a black and white flag for repeatedly violating the boundaries of the highway. The power plant on Hamilton's car did not develop the necessary power and he turned into the pits to check.
Fernando Alonso showed the best time, driving a lap in 1:28.827, two tenths ahead of Russell and three ahead of Verstappen.

Already making excuses for Hamilton? Started early this year...

Maybe Hamilton will find out how it is to be in the other shoe now, when the team no longer is pampering him, and we will all see how fast he really is when he is the "Alonso", and the other guy is the team's favorite, how about this scenario instead?

As for Horner, honestly, his thing is none of our business, and the fact that such a thing even gets so many column inches just show how boring everything around F1 is these days that they need to give any atention to that.

He didn't impress me much during the previous qualifying in Dubai and it was actually the same today. Curious if he goes to Ferrari, Leclerc is a bit different from Russel. at least my opinion.

I really don't doubt his skills, but it seems he doesn't drive with his soul, which could be fatal! in F1

Oh what a lap by max, unbelievable, track record, faster than 2020 and 2021 cars, do you realize it?it's the first time a new generation car has beaten a 2020-2021 car. Nice pack behind max, i expected the mclarens to be quicker though.
