Driver: Dick Thompson
Dick Thompson, a dentist by trade, started racing in 1956 with the support of Zora Arkus-Duntov. Thompson won numerous races in the late 50's and 60's, and took the SCCA championship in 1956, 1957, 1960, 1961 and 1962 in Classes A, B and C.
Thompson was known as "The Flying Dentist".

This car was built in 1965 and had the old front until 1966.
In 1968 the car looked completely different, later style front and no wire wheels.
This is the version as used at the Nurbugring in 1966.

Not much history on this car. It was owned and raced briefly by Roger West in 1967. The car was then sold on.
These GT40's will be shown as "Ford GT40 MKI" in the selection screen when "Ford GT40 - 1966" is selected.
