Here are 3 Cobras for P&G 3.2

#51 and #98A are 289 Roadsters, and #69 is a RHD 427 Roadster.

#51
Driver: Bob Bondurant

CSX 2345 was the fifth of the original five Cobra 289 FIA Roadsters built specifically for competition in the 1964 FIA Manufacturers Championship races.

This car and Dan Gurney's Targa Florio FIA Roadster were identical consecutive race cars - both being entered first in the 1964 Targa and both having the AC factory installed front fender flairs, oil cooler scoop and the trunk lid suitcase bulges for the FIA suitcase.

In 1965, this car was one four of the Shelby American - Alan Mann entered European cars and the only roadster on the Shelby team in this year of the championship. CSX 2345 started and ended its final season with victories and ended with more FIA races (7) and Victories (5) than any other single Cobra roadster.

Of the original five "FIA" roadsters, only two remain in existence today, and CSX 2345 remains the only unrestored factory team car. This car today is in virtually the same condition as when it finished the 1965 season with Bob Bondurant winning first place at the Rossfeld Mountain Hillclimb.

#98A
Driver: Ken Miles

One of the very first Shelby Cobras, this car was raced in the Pacific Coast Championship by Ken Miles at Riverside in 1963.

Coming second to the team car driven by Dave McDonald after a lengthy pit stop. They beat all the Corvette Stingrays by quite a margin.

Ken Miles died in an accident in 1966 at Riverside Raceway while testing the Ford J Car for it's suitability in the Can Am series.

Born in England in 1918, and moving to the United States in 1952, he was only 47.

Not only was he a superb driver, but he was also a fine engineer; building a few specials for his early racing career and also one of the Sunbeam Tiger Prototypes.

While working for Carol Shelby, he tuned the Cobra into the fast racing machine that it became and also worked on the GT40 and the Mustang GT350.

#69

Owner\Driver: Ron Thorp.

Bought in 1964 from AC Cars, Thames Ditton.
Basically a street car, it was Curcuit Raced and Hillclimbed extensivley from 1965 to 1967 by Ron Thorp.

Either #69 or #96. With or without Hardtop and some times running an aero screen.

Winner of the 1965 Australian Hillclimb Championship for Production Sports Cars.

Winner of the 1966 Australian Hillclimb Championship for Sports & Racing cars, and 2nd outright.

Winner of the 1967 Australian Hillclimb Championship for Sports & Racing cars.

The car is still in use in some Historic events.

Enjoy.
