The Broadspeed GTS package; version 1.1
Installation: (unless you are patching from 1.0)
- delete old versions from Gamedata\Teams\ExtraCars and extract
to \gamedata\teams -folder
- GTS is linked to Lotus Elan R26 in game.
Brought to you by:
- Nappe1: physics
- Tokin : body modifications
Acknowledgements:
- Sharpo: for the wide arches and wheel sets
- James1: inspiration to the double headlights (in this version
they can be knocked off individually)
Thanks:
- Jeroen Booij of Maximum Mini: Inspiration and Information
- Maeckie, Gravin and Pizzaman: for beta testing
Differences to normal Broadspeed avaiable to GTL:
- Complete Standalone GTC-65 class with just fastback bodystyle.
- Body style having GTS Only features like side exhaust and wide
arches.
- Complete new, Authentic physics. This was quite demanding task
as only 2 GTS cars have existed, one made in britain and one
made in Australia.
- As it was Grp 5 car, more setup options, roll bar, rev limiter,
two different tyre compunds to select...
GTS was a light weight, racing only, ultimate version of
Broadspeeds and costed almost as much as 3.8 litre E-Type back in
a day. It was weight reduced as much as possible by not only having
just rear end made from glass re-enforced plastic (GRP), but also
doors and bonnet as well. All windows were perplex (except
windshield) and rest (what was left) steel parts were lightened as
much as possible, ending the car weight as low as 530kg.
As a premium engine tuner, Ralph Broad overbored BMC A-series
block up to 1360cc, giving the GTS one of the most powerful Mini
engines back in a day. This combined to strong 4-speed short ratio
gearbox resulted very fast car with very accurate handling.
Result: the days that muscle cars would look in the rear view
mirror to see a Mini quickly disappear in the distance after a
passing manouevr are over. The Broadspeed GTS can more or less
keep up with the big guy... the race is on!
Conversion to other games:
- Permission needed and when granted, original authors must be
mentioned.
Possible further enchancements:
- real world skins (only three paint jobs have existed on those
three cars, but quite few replicas have been built from non-GTS
cars.)
- Authentic Broadspeed dashboard.
Version History:
- 1.0: 31. Jan, 2011: First release version.
- 1.1: 17. Mar, 2013: Updates physics to match real world car.
