OK, so here we go - this is my 1st track ever.
We're up to version 0.7 now. Hopefully use of the name "acme" is OK, I was pretty far along before I thought about that.
Here's what we've got so far:
It's a working track, 4.3 km, and can be raced on. It's mostly flat with between 17-20 turns depending on how you count. Yes, there are many details to a track and I didn't get an FIA inspection yet.
There is an AI line and I've run with up to 28 cars in tests so far.
Please see the latest update for details on it.
Plans:
I think the track layout is fixed unless feedback says otherwise, but I do plan to smooth out some terrain, fix any issues of which I'm aware of a few, and add some signage, especially at the Start/Finish.
I've found this mod-ability of RF2 and especially Assetto Corsa (because it's more easy) makes them far and away the best race sims, IMO. I've obtained many tracks and cars from the RD community and they have been a lot of fun to experience. Here's my chance to give back.
For this track, I've made the whole thing with RTB, 100%. In the near future, I hope to apply what I learn from this to more tracks, both real and fantasy, and start using more tools. So here's hoping for some constructive feedback and see you on the servers.
BTW, the Sector 2 and Sector 3 start lines are marked with a white paint line and one light pole on each side. Also distance markers are on the same side as the next turn. I hope you find it driveable and raceable.
About getting stuck in a barrier, all I can say is "Yikes!" Thankfully there's an escape button but all fix that right away. I tried a shortcut with the barrier which obviously had the wrong effect.
I was considering to remove the middle dotted line on the track which I had added earlier on as a reference point but is no longer needed. Yeah, I'll get rid of it now for sure.
I'll post an update soon and hopefully I'll get some more suggestions. At this point I'm still trying to do this as kind of a RTB-demonstrator project, so hopefully it works for the whole project.
