History:
In 1954, the French aeronautical turbine manufacturer, Turbomeca, proposed that Renault make a gas turbine car to display the technology's benefits and try to break the speed record for gas turbine vehicles.

After two years of development in wind tunnel, the result was the Renault Étoile Filante (Shooting Star).

The Renault Team went to the Bonneville Slats Flats to set the speed record and managed to reach an average speed of 307.707 kph (191.2 mph) for the 1 Miles record and 306.902 kph (190.7 mph) for the 1 Km record.

During more testing at Bonneville the car reached a speed of 322kph, but those speed were not homologated for speed records.

The Turbine (Engine):

The Etoile Filante is powered by a turboshaft, Turbomeca Turmo 1, gas turbine producing 270hp.
The compressor turbine will idle at 10.000rpm and has maximum rpm of 35.000rpm. The power turbine will reach ~28.000rpm at max speed.
The power turbine is bolted to a reducing gear lowering the 28.000rpm to 2500rpm.

Other technical details:

Chassis: Spaceframe in chrome-molybdenum steel tubing.
Body: Polyester, laminating resin.
Weight: 950 Kg (2094lbs)

Front Suspensions: Trailing arms, torsions bars.
Rear Suspensions: Double Wishbones.

Brakes: 4 In-board Dunlop Disks.

How to drive:

Very simple, select 1st gear and press the throttle. You don't need to use the clutch.
The compressor will take a while to reach 35.000rpm and produce max power. It's not a race car but If you want to be faster on track, you can left brake while slightly pressing the throttle to keep the compressor spooled.

Hope you enjoy :)

Loving it already !! :D

Really fun and such a unique car! Thanks!
Some issues:

- sounds are a bit metallic on idle
- no blur rims texture (why do modders not include it anymore?)
- LOD C and D are the usual Simplygon awful stuff, I got rid of them, B is enough
- Steering has a noticeable seam at the top, its texture could be a bit more organic
Great addition, thank you.
Another great addition to AC's growing number of obscure old cars. Nice detail and having a ball racing other vintage speed record cars at 1937 AVUS!!
Great mod! Happy to have found more ways to die in the virtual world :)
Fun car, will have to use a Cannonball type course for it. 194 down the Hunaudieres, kink was dicy, but made it. Forgot about the 1956 era brakes, still hit the haybales at around 50mph lol!, fun ride!
Very interesting mod, but great implantation of the jet engine! The only problem I have is that the shadows seem a bit dim
