The BMW M3 GT2

Hey there, i hope everyone is enjoying the "game"
I have put many hours into this and I just cant get enough, the more hours you put in each car the more depth you find out hiding underneath.
I just wanted to say this: The M3 GT2, a disappointment at first, i thought i was driving on rails but after putting a lot of time into it, OH MY GOD. It feels so good, nothing i have ever driven in a sim. At lower speeds its a damn train but when you open the taps it feels RIGHT. Nothing feels as good as going through the 1st turn @ silverstone on 5th gear flat out.

Also, watching this thing going around in replay mode it looks so damn real.

I just had to share my thoughts with you, i am a happy man.

Not true, you have to be agressive and smooth. Use the correct amount of kerb, use to much and the car bounces forever. Here is my lap, a 41.5 with default setup (around 15-20 liters, one click more forward brake bias, thats it) with no driving aids. (Lost a few tenths in Variante Alta)

If the sim says it's valid, then it's valid, but you have to agree there are a few times where all 4 wheels are outside the track boundary, so you can see why others are disputing it.

On other sims, like say iRacing, that lap would not stand as you would have muliple 1x incidents for leaving the track.
 
Oh, I dont dispute that that particular lap would be invalidated in real life. :) It was a reply to a claim about having to use stability control to get a 41.

That said, the off track at Piratella (0:50) is not faster, thats a slight mistake. You maintain slightly higher speed in that wide line, but if you nail it you travel a shorter distance. I didnt lose or gain there. Variante Alta (1:10) is also a mistake, losing the rear a bit under braking, forcing countersteering and ending up on the outside where there is very little traction. I closely monitor delta splits when driving (iRacing habit), and I lost about two tenths there.

Putting all four wheels off the track in Acque Minerali (0:58) is definately faster, about 3 tenths I would say.

Not really. It depends on a track. For example on t1 at watkins glen you can go comepletly off track and it counts (no 1x multiplayer).
 
There are lots of corners in real life where they completely leave the track surface and are not penalized, and its always the same reason: Its faster. T1 at Watkins like Arkadiusz mentions, no name corner at Spa (lefthander before Pouhon), T1 at Red Bull Ring, etc, etc.

The easy way for AC to stop me (and others, hehe) going wide in Acque Minerali is to reduce grip out there. There is no way to carry that speed while cornering and the car compressing if the grip is the same as the outside of Piratella and Variante Alta.
 
Yes, I absolutely agree, corners that allow to go wide at the exit are usually not penalized; why should going wide be penalized anyway when any pilot can do it?

Chicanes are a different story though since they are usually build with a purpose in mind, e.g. safety.
 
The only problem with that, is now it becomes how wide?

Two wheels within the white lines is much clearer and still gives a reasonable leeway.

I've always preferred open wheelers ...... but this BMW is sucking me in :cool:

If I had one slight issue, it would be the external sound from track side cameras, when dropping down through he gears. There is something about it, I can't quite put my finger on, a kind of computer generated synthetic quality about it. But hey, it's early days. :)
