F1 2011 Steam version: GFWL login not working, Hotfix didn't help

So, I gave F1 2011 a go on my (rather old) computer and, much to my surprise, it's running extremely well on high details. Sad thing is, I can't log in to GFWL. I can, however, log into Xbox Live on my 360 and GFWL using my notebook.

I can access the internet from my computer and even downloaded the game from Steam directly. Haven't had a problem getting a hotfix for GFWL from the MS website either, to no avail.

So, I'm using XP SP3 and a wired connection to my router. Any ideas? Doesn't bother me much since I'm getting a new PC soon anyway but I didn't get my achievements for the first race I ran!

Was it the 'Workaround' bit that worked .... or something else in the thread?

Workaround thingie - "fake" creating a new one and voila.
