Following the rainy cockpit previews released a few days ago, Image Space Incorporated has now released the first ever moving footage of rain in rFactor 2!
The short video shows the experimental rain effect in use with an open-wheeler, ISI points out that the effects are still work in progress, especially the droplets. Another preview video showcasing their progress will be able at a later date but for now, enjoy the first ever rain footage of rFactor 2 below.
rFactor 2 will introduce various improvements to the modding-friendly simulation including weather, driver animations and a refined graphics engine. ISI has not announced a definite release date yet, the company is still aiming to release their newest title by the end of 2010 though.

@Kris and Samuli, its an interesting one that'll be harder to implement than you'd think.....streaking effects for a visor would be sideways, upwards on a 'saloon/sedan' windshield, fireworks-spread-stylee on a prototype windshield - i think the key will be modellers implementing it properly, as opposed to ISI but as a preview for WIP i like the look of it a lot

(oh yeah and notice with the hands how they cross to get the car in shape.....that's a cool touch )

I dont think its particularly realistic. Rain doesn't affect the vision that badly on a visor, unless your going 100+mph in a single seater in a torrential downpour...

Video of the experimental rFactor 2 rain effects we've been working on lately. We still have work to do on the effect (especially the droplets) and will post another video at a later date so you can see the progression and improvements.

So expect it be allot better once finished.
