I know that. Still, its very expensive, compared to AC.
Not true. I did a comparison some time ago between the relative costs of AC and R3E. If you "buy smart" then R3E with all of it's content works out cheaper than AC and all of it's content, not including sales. If you want to buy piecemeal and end up buying everything anyway then R3E will work out significantly more expensive yes, but why would you do that? The whole point in separating cars/tracks/liveries is so that you can save money by buying only what you really want/need.

It is sad that too often arguments come down to counting cents between some of the greatest simulators ever made.

Both are absolute must have simulators.
Yes, the new R3E Porsche cars cost money to be able to drive them.
Yes, the studio is a business, thta has been founded to create product for sale and earn a profit.

In a socialists dream world, we the working class people would all drive Porsche cars for free but that is never going to happen.

If you not only value the fact of being able to use great quality content for a modest price but also that the creators of that content get to pay for their kids school lunch money you betterr get comfortable that we do live in a world were the price of admission is paid in money.

I only had little time so far to try out the new GT3 R for now and it is wonderful.

The first thing I found though is that the sound is much closer towards the characteristics of the 911 GT3 R in Project Cars 2 than the one I know and looooooove in Assetto Corsa (the very unique 6cyl boxer engine sound characteristics are wonderfully rendered in the stock AC GT3 R in my opinion).

I have to have a deeper listen to all these. From watching the video, I feel the urge of buying the Cup car as well, the sound in that video matches EXACTLY how these cars sound when being at the track and watching the Porsche Cup Asia here in Shanghai.

On the subject of cost, it actually makes me laugh sometimes. I mean, if I buy one of the Porsches with one livery direct from the in-game store for cash, it costs around £3.50. That £3.50 gets me a virtual car that I can then drive and enjoy both online and off for hours and hours and hours... as long as I damn well please.

That same £3.50 is barely enough for a large cappuccino from a high-street coffee shop which lasts all of ten minutes, it isn't enough to pay for my lunch, it's about a quarter of what I need to go see a two hour movie at the cinema and about a third of what I'd need to buy that same movie on blu-ray. And that is why I will rarely sympathise with people that moan about the cost of R3E content! :whistling:

As for the cars, I like them all. The Cayman is a very nice addition and sounds great. The Cup car can be a bit of a handful but I like it's "purity" in that it has no assists. It also sounds great. As for the GT3, I love the way it drives but I have to admit that I am somewhat underwhelmed by the sound. It's ok I suppose, but it just doesn't have that raw growl that I was expecting. As Dirk mentioned above, I feel that the AC sound was a bit better, and the mod sound you can download sounds absolutely orgasmic! Perhaps R3E has it sounding exactly as it does in RL, I don't know... all I know is that it doesn't really do anything for me.

I didn't expect that reaction. But it's true: To get the 911 GT3 (Also the Cup), you'll have to pay almost 8 € (with all liverys). In the AC-DLC you get them both but with many cool extra-content.

It's a matter of perspective. Do a multiclass race with both the Cayman and the Cup car. It will cost you 4 euro to participate in that in R3E (because you only need one of the cars with one livery), but it will cost you 14 euro in AC (because you need to own two DLCs). So, yeah...very expensive...

And then there's things like the sound or the FFB...

I think you may be a bit confused.

I can buy the whole of AC and all the DLC for under 90 quid. I also admit that you can buy the new "offer" packs for under 90 quid on RRE. However, people like me paid over 180 quid for the RRE content prior to them giving away the packs for under 50% of what the original supporters paid.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R costs £3.54 and if you want the liveries its another £6.90. That's £10.44 for a single car with liveries. Now add to that the cost of the 911 GT3 Cup with 32 liveries (£3.54 plus £6.90 for the liveries) and the Cayman GT4 Club (£3.53) and you're are at £24.41 for 3 cars. Now pit that against Asseto Corsa Porsche pack 1, 2 and 3. What do you get?

Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0
Porsche 718 Cayman S

Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick
Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport
Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Porsche 718 Spyder RS
Porsche Cayman GT4
Porsche 718 Boxster S Manual Transmission
Porsche 718 Boxster S PDK
Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015
Porsche 911 GT1
Porsche 962c long tail
Porsche 962c short tail
Porsche 911 RSR 201
Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017
Porsche 911 GT3 R 2016
Porsche 919 Hybrid 2016
Porsche 908 LH
Porsche 917 K
Porsche 911 R
Porsche 911 Turbo S

All for £15.47 for everything (at full priice...but £6.21 at Xmas sale on Steams) seems a lot better value for money in my opinion. I can get liveries from the modding community for free and AC's sound is not far off RRE now.

In fact, get all the DLC for AC for £21 on Steam at the moment.

AC plus all 3 Dream packs for £11.99

Edit: Get the Porsche Season Pass (All 3 packs for £4.47 on Steam ) during the Xmas break.

I really don't see how am I confused. Yes, by spending those 14 euro, you technically get more content (whether you want it or not, you're not given a choice here). Yet you still have to spend the same 14 euro even if you just want to enter the race I gave as an example and have no interest in any of the other cars included. You have no other option but to buy them as well. There's nothing confused about that, that's a fact.

Also, I can buy the whole of R3E for 52 quid right now (in fact I can get it for less than 30, since I already own some of it).

But whatever. You're more than welcome to all the content you get with AC for your money. It's just very unfair to call R3E "very expensive" compared to AC. AC's business model is simply designed in a way that gives you more content at once, but at the same time, you have to get more of it if you want to attend the same races. With one GT3 car and one livery, I can participate in any GT3 race in R3E. In AC, I'd likely need most of the DLCs on sale to be able to do the same. It's up to you what you prefer.

Sounds wise, since there are many complains about them, you can expect some new sounds for both GT3R and GT3 Cup. It seems that the way we recorded them didn't suit the majority and therefore we will proceed some new recordings as soon as the cars are available ;)

About the Porsche price in R3E compared to AC, we need to consider that Kunos got the license for free basically, so it's not as easy to make a profit for R3E.

In regards to cost (keep in mind that this is coming from a real cheapskate) I'm probably with @Ross Garland on this one, my son spends more on a days golf than I spend on racing games in a year.
Yes sometimes I draw a sharp breath when I see the price of a single car but then I did say I'm a cheapskate:D

Agree with all you say and according to Anthony over at S3, until future changes the best we can expect for now is an exact representation of the cockpit sound as is, most peoples misconceptions come from poorly placed and poor quality microphones piped through Youtube. In the end real life drivers have driven all three and appear to be happy with the outcome! Do we want loud growly sounds or do we want authentic sounds? Authentic for me and in the future S3 hope to Mic a host of different components on their own layers, which eventually could lead to sliders in the UI, letting people raise or lower the volume of individual components to their h(ear)ts content. :)

I paid the price for all 3 cars anyway.
It is okay for me, I do have the money and I want to support S3. I was just wondering why there is such a huge gap in price compared to AC. I didn't expect the license to be more expensive.

But another question: Is there any reason why the Cayman has only 1 livery? A full grid looks really poor with that, offline and also online. Are there more to come? :)

Cost comparison:
Bottle of decent bourbon=$45.00. lasts a couple weeks.
Commacho triple maduro robusto = $10.00 lasts an hour.
One gallon of 104 octane sunoco racing fuel =$9.50. lasts less than 1 hour.
R3E GT3 pack = $17.50. Lasts forever, no diminished returns, ever. never ending supply of fun at speed= priceless. Cost is relative. Some things mean more to some people than others. I think it's more how you see something as value or not, perception. I could live without any of these vices but it just isn't enough money to change my life so i buy what i can afford that i enjoy drinking, smoking, or driving .Enjoy life or not, it's up to you.

I bought 5000 VRP in the RaceRoom Store for €35. With these VRP I bought the Premium Pack for 3880 VRP, so about €27. That got me all the R3E content (cars, liveries, track) that currently exists. I already owned most of the content released until about mid 2016, so 1.5 years of new content for only €27, sounds fairly priced to me!:)

Loving the dlc but Still have to give the 718 GT4 a proper run. Multiplayer is really populated for the last couple of days (haven’t been playing for a couple of months so it might be just me).
Anyways, as always top notch stuff from sector3 and RR.
Merry xmas everyone.

The issue you will now face though is that they changed the packs to only allow you to buy once which is the only thing I really take issue with. As someone who's spent over £100 and has most of the content to get the final few pieces is way too expensive as I have no access to any owner discounts.

It just feels like the system is currently designed to milk long term owners who are already locked it.
