Zaxxon released the v1.0 version of his track Olocau-Gátova for Richard Burns Rally. Made with Bob's Tracks Builder it's another masterpiece for rally lovers!

Zaxxon commented on the release: "At the end of last summer my brother and I took a car and had a nice time driving on roads near the town where we were born. We were looking for a track to model and the route from Olocau to Gátova was exactly what we were looking for: narrow, twisty and the typical look from our homeland. So it is not a real rally stage, it is just a nice place 20Km away from where I was born."

Well done to Ondrej for making a really good video. :thumb:

For those who may be surprised or have shelved RBR years ago, much credit should go to the modding community who have done an amazing job in keeping RBR upddated. RBR was, and still is, the most realistic Rally Sim available (probably one of the best SimRacing games of all time), but modders have added a huge amount of content, especially new cars and Stages. The amazing (and rather challenging) realism of the driving model is still there, but it looks and sounds soooo much better.
And the major advancement is the ability to play on-line now by using one of the two available Mods. The one we use at Racedepartment is RSRBR2010, which is constantly updated and improved. Details are available in the Richard Burns Rally Forum.

In addition to the upcoming Rally League, we also have weekly events in the RD Rally Club, with an emphasis on fun, and we now have a regular band of Rally enthusiasts who are very helpful.

Our next Richard Burns Rally Club Event is open for sign-up. A much more traditional Rally this time, one for the gravel jockeys who love England.

This time we simulate a full British Rally, using all Stages based in the English countryside, with the Rally sponsored by Mitsubishi. All of the cars in this Car Pack are Mitsubishis, and as expected, are very similar in appearance and handling. They are all very closely matched too.
For those who want some variety in livery, there are quite a few nice skins at RallyeSim.fr .

All Stages are gravel, but we have added some variety in the weather and also included a night Stage.
We have also added the Sweet Lamb Stage from the BTB Stages 1&2 addon.

If requests are made for any additional timezones, or changes to Start times to better suit your local needs, we will try to include them ( but within the Monday/Tuesday periods).
Good luck all, and hope we see a good roll up. All Rally fans are invited.

After round 6, it was already decided who will be the rightful champion of the second season of the RD Rally Championship (Richard Burns Rally w/ RSRBR 2010/11). Sebastien Levret won the round and increased his lead with difference of 65 points to 2nd place. With only two rounds remaining, he could start celebrating. "Of course I am happy for that," he said. "But next rallyes lose the meaning of fight for the title. First season was closer and I had to fight till the last event. Nothing is pushing me to win now but the honor. I can assure my fans though, I won't let up." Ludovic Cogotti finished behind Sebastien and remained in fights for the vice champion. A disaster event for Jakub Sulej, who ended out of the scoring far far behind. Thanks to him, Attila Kiss jumped to 2nd place in the overall standings even though he didn't participate this time.

It wasn't similar in Champions League. Current leader Norbert Leitner haven't shown up. This let the door for the title opened. Roy Magnes did pretty well and took the first pace and what is more, 3rd overall, slowly but surely caching Norbert. He jumped to 2nd place in the standings in front of Yann Laprevotte, who finished 4th, also scoring overall.

Teams standings are expectedly leaden by Project D, not threaten by anyone. Close battle is between 2nd-4th. JME/Coke Zero, Ford Team Poland followed by Nijo Rally. They are pressed into 7 points difference.

Round 7 took us into overgrown tropical forests of Japan. Sebastien again dominated and was the fastest driver in 10 of 14 stages, which is 70% of the rallye. Jakub again finished down the field with no right for points and got down to 4th in the standings. "It's real suffer. I can't get the car working how I need to and we are not well coordinated with the team. But I am not blaming anyone for it, it's just bad times and I trust we can get better before last round where I am aiming for the win." With Attila again missing, Simone Demi replaced him in the overall standings after finishing 3rd just behind Dariusz Swiderski, who performed great 2nd position.

Champions league experienced surprise of the season. Roy Magnes didn't let anyone be faster than him and captured the win. Who made remarkable results was Ondřej Kapal, finishing 2nd in the class and 6th overall, only 7 seconds behind Roy. "It's incredible, I can't still believe it. I never stand on podium in such a brilliant competition, not even scored overall. I just hope I will stay with my new performance in the upcoming events. Special thanks to my team, who prepared my car perfectly!" Kevin Hopkins finished 3rd, getting close to Nigel Atkins in the overall standings. Norbert Leitner haven't shown up again, which leaded to very interesting last round, where should be decided, who takes unpopular 4th place, who bronze, silver and gold!

Last round, 8th in a row, Vauxhall Rally of Wales had to decide vice champions in both leagues and title carrier in Champions. By example from last season the final was grandiose, even with already known champion Sebastien Levret. SuperSpecials were sold out, parking were full, broadcast were online all around the world and stages were overcrowded by spectators. The atmosphere was just outstanding. But stop talking around and lets take a look at the race itself!
At the start was waiting for a green lights Sebastien Levret, who was expected to win. But who bet on him, did wrong. Jakub Sulej, after his disappointing results last events began with the fastest time. Then real fight started. They were both changing their places and the fastest times, but in the end, Jakub was more successful. "It's big honor to me beat such an icon of rallye in such a conditions. But I wasn't wondering even for a while that this time I would provide bad results. The worst is behind us and it can be only better!" This performance made him, like in previous season, vice champion, losing 85 points to Seb. This time, we could see Attila Kiss in his Škoda WRC cruising trough stages, but he shamed himself and ended down the field, 30th. Tor Anders Berven was after few events finally visible and finished behind Seb, 3rd. Thanks to Attila's bad result, Simone Demi took final bronze after his 4th place.

Norbert Leitner arrived at last to hold his lead. And so he did, even though he finished only 3rd after Keegan Buckley's disqualification, it was still enough. "Thanks everyone who arrived to support me. Mostly my fans, they have my recognition, because they waited there for me, even in this bad weather. I am deeply touched!" He almost cried. Nigel Atkins finish first in the class though. "That's what I call sweet dot behind this season," he laughed. Roy wasn't the fastest this time, but he managed to stay 2nd overall and is Champions class vice champion. Yann Laprevotte ended far behind, and lost his bronze in good of excellent Nigel.

It is fair to mention how it ended when it comes to Teams. It ended exactly how it was mentioned, Project D first with big gap of 110 points, second JME/Coke Zero, third Ford Team Poland and fourth Nijo Rally.

It was long, hilarious, hard and very expensive season. We visited tarmac stages, gravel stages, mix of mud, snow and ice, places with hot and tropical weather. Popularity still grows up, newcomers are more frequent.
"I am very pleased with the second season and how it went. Many thanks to organize team, sponsors and mostly all those fans, it wouldn't be rallye without you. I hope next season, with a lot of changes to make the rallying more comfortable and accessible for bigger amount of drivers, will be as successful as this one. We are planning some more tropical events, more technique and fast ones." says Rick Bamford, the main director of RaceDepartment Rallye Championship. And what exactly the changes are? Let's review them.

1. New classes:
Because season 2 experienced unexpected large interest, it was decided to extend the classes,
2. Driver grading system:
To keep new, unskilled drivers in competition of their level, it was decided to sort them by their skills. Better results will affect in moving up trough the grade until the star class, driving WRC cars.
3. Parc Fermé
Excessive cutting will be reviewed and punished.
4. New stages
New stages will be driven to add variety.

That and much more!

First round starts pretty soon and to introduce it, we asked as usual Rick Bamford.
"Round one once again sees our crews return to the snow and ice of Rally Norway. The fast flowing roads of the scandinavian region always provide close fights and enthralling battles. Warmer tempretures than previous seasons will provide a new and added challenge.

Starting again with the Pribum stage though town, the crews will then move to Mustaselka and Mlynky in the mountains. Repeating these stages in the after noon. Fog will be an issue in the low level Pribrum, but good weather will return for the rest of the day. At this time of year, night falls early meaning that the second pass of Mustaselka will be run in the dusk before full night comes for the daunting Mlynky stage.

Day 2 starts with Kaihuvaara, Sikakama and Autiovaara before midday service. The second pass of these stages will be more mud and ice than snow as the whole field cuts though the surface. care will need to be taken as the road edges are now packed ice and are no longer forgiving to wide lines and corner cutting. It will provide very different stages to the first pass.
"

One sad note to the end, we had a talk with Sebastien Levret about his participation in the third season. Unfortunately, he had and argument with his main sponsor chief and couldn't subscribe contract to extend his agency. "I can't drive in conditions, which they proposed." With his experience and results, it wasn't hard to find another sponsor, but they won't be ready with the car until late rounds, so Seb decided to stay out of this show this time and give another talent a chance to be a champion. "At least, the motivation will be bigger in fourth season," he added with smile on his face.

But that's really all for now. We will be back after first round is done with news, results and reviews. Get ready, it starts this week! See you soon.

Welcome back with our monthly press! Today, we take you trough the cold Round 1 on the Scandinavian peninsula, this time in Norway. Where else would be opening event that grandiose?

RDRC%20logo%20for%20news.jpg

Opening ceremonial was held in Christiania Torv - old square in Oslo. Every driver supposed to participate in this season arrived, and not only them. It was phenomenal Sebastien Levret, two times champion himself who stood side by side with crews on the start ramp. In the end of the day, he was invited to take a part in shakedown in his "old" Citroen C4. "It is good to see him again," said Jakub Sulej, two times vice champion. "Yes, we are in contact, but watching him staying around stages as spectator is not just right. I was glad he could sit in it again." Sadly, Sebastien didn't win. It was Jakub who made fastest time. "Unsatisfied? That's how I should feel?" Seb laughed. "No. We haven't prepared our car as much as Jakub and other drivers. We are aiming to next season and it takes time to set everything right. I am here because of my fans and other visitors, not because of win." He finished on fourth place, behind Rick Bamford and Warren Dawes.

But nothing is just how it seems to be. Tyre choose was very demanding, because fresh snow from Thursday changed into brown slippery mud during Friday and times from shakedown now meant nothing. First stages were dominated by Jakub Sulej, leaving everyone in snow spray behind. Everything went well until stage n°3, where he made a mistake. He was fast too much in one tough turn and rolled onto hidden strain breaking cooler. He was able to finish the stage, but with huge loss he immediately dropped down in the field. In first servis time, mechanics fixed the damage, but Jakub pushed very hard to minimize the gap and made another mistake. At that moment, second servis was far away and he had full hands of work to get there.

But how its known, one cries and another laughs. Thanks to this, Mark Birney appeared in the lead, with Tor Anders Berven close behind. When dark has fallen, their time difference wasn't bigger than few seconds. But Mark sticked with bad tyres and crashed, losing a lot of time. Even other WRC cars were struggling on mud unlike production cars, such as S2000, which were dominant. There for the first time of the rally got quick and light cars into fights for podium. Tor was first after Mark's flat out, but Simone Demi with Warren Dawes weren't far behind. But Tor hit retarder and was penalized for it. Due to this, Warren was in the lead with Simone behind!

Round 1 / Day 1 highlights:

Last servis was shorter compared to the rest, so if someone decided to change anything on the car, it had to be fast work. Weather forecast was announcing that temperature will cool down during the day, which can involve into icing roads. Still, every driver chose tyres to mud and snow. Simone was gaining every possible second to pass Warren in the results, even though it wasn't easy to do. But last two stages played in Simone's card and Warren had to settle with worser pace. There were other drivers also, mainly in WRC cars trying to floor the throttle as much as possible. But only one successful driver was Mark Johnston, who won rest of the stages, and he jumped over Warren to second place. Tor Anders Berven, who was leader after second service, finished fourth. "I could have done better, it is sure. I think marshals didn't judge the incident well, I am sure I didn't roll the barrel, only moved, which is 5 seconds penalize, not 30. I should be on podium," he complained. Next WRC driver was Norman Biscuit, but this time with A1 class car, 2001 year Subaru Impreza. He finished fifth just behind another S2000 beast Jeremy Loveland. Pretty bad results from Attila Kiss, who has been forgotten down the field, along with another WRC and production cars drivers, beaten by less powered cars.

This season has increased number of classes, including Rookie and Junior cup. The only difference between these classes are cars. Rookie cup is composed of N3 2WD cars, unlike Juniors are driving racing A6, kit cars and R3 cars. And it was just Daniel Tonsberg who totally outclassed everyone else. He finished eighteenth overall, which is remarkable results and gave 6 minutes to second rookie Norman Bruce. Junior Aaron DeMare finished first in his class and five places behind Daniel overall, twenty first.

Round 1 / Day 2 highlights:

You can find Round 1 results here http://www.racedepartment.com/rd-ra...1-rally-norway-16th-20th-july.html#post864834 and final standings here http://www.racedepartment.com/rd-rally-championship/59325-rdrc-season-3-points-tables.html

It is being tradition to ask Rick Bamford, main RDRC staff, what can we expect in upcoming round.
"For round 2 we go down-under to Australia, the Coffs Harbour Rally. In the early part of the year, the days are long and the weather should be hot making for a perfect weekend for competition.
Day one starts with a real heart-starter on the Greenhills stage before moving to New-Bobs which as we saw last season has been partly surfaced with tarmac making a very slippery stage. Combined with a number of blind crests and super fast roads, this one takes courage. The famous Mineshaft stage follows before service allowing repairs to be undertaken for anyone that pushes too hard over the massive jump.
After service the cars return to the forest for a new challenge in the championship, Diamond Creek. Again with big crests, high speeds and a very difficult edge to the road punishes small mistakes with VERY big crashes.
From there we drop into East-west with its tight twisting sections. We finish the day with a bang over the rough Propect ridge stage.
The second day is a repeat of day one's stages so expect the times to be faster the second time around."

One note at the end, RMI motorsport retired from a Citroen Xsara WRC and got Škoda Fabia WRC 2007 held by First Motorsport until now. Let see if they will find better pace with new car.

But for now, it is all. But don't worry, we are back soon, as next round is just behind the doors! See you in a month.

Nice video. Looks like a lot of fun competing in this championship. But I'm curious - the new RBR stages that are being used here, do they have fully accurate pace notes or have these drivers memorized the courses?
