Chip Ganassi Racing young hotshot Kyle Larson has found himself in deep water with his team and sport, following an ill advised racial slur during the recent iRacing NASCAR series broadcast.

One of the hottest young prospects within the NASCAR scene in recent years, Larson enjoyed his best season in the category to date in 2019, finish a very solid sixth in the title standings after just missing out on the chance to race for the championship in the final rounds of the series.

Despite having a car underneath him that never quite manages to challenge outright over the course of a full campaign, Larson has impressed many observers in recent years as he began to make a name for himself in the category - good work that looks like it has been severely compromised when the 27-year-old was heard using a racial slur during a recent iRacing NASCAR replacement series race.

Initially having been suspended from the real and virtual championships for an indefinite amount of time, Larson has since seen a number of key sponsors walk away from him in the last 24 hours, leaving his Chip Ganassi Racing outfit with the decision to fire the American driver with immediate effect - casing doubt on the viability of Larson's career in premier American Stock Car series.

Using the N word on a live broadcast has brought justified criticism of the driver from fans and insiders within the sport, forcing the six-time cup winner to post an apology for his actions on his social media channels - however, only time will tell if this is enough to reignite what has been a promising career for the Californian driver:

If you don't understand the connotations that word carries, especially in the USA, you're either being deliberately obtuse or you're ignorant of the historical context. I don't know which possibility frightens me more, but at least there is something that can be done about the latter. Hopefully this guy's mistake inspires some people to seek out some education.
You are right.

Rephrased my comment because it was too terrible political for this forum.

Instead: Allways sorry to se when young people becomming victims of political correctness.

Although I do not believe in talking bad about a person because of his race, I have to agree with you BrunoB. Come on... let the punishment equal the crime for Pete´s sake. Give the man a reprimande, but to reck his career over it.. Jeez we live in troubled times, where noone dares to step outside the line in fear of consequences... It´s bad, it´s sad.

85 comments and NOONE has dared to actually say the word we are all discussing. I could not fine anyone writing the word ******. Even in a describing manner, to state what the **** we are talking about. "The N word" is the nearest people come... Come on guys... this is what the world has come to.

See this clip from Monty Phyton´s "Life of Brian" Sort of speaks to me of how this gets blown out of proportions.

Damn how the once great Race Department has fallen. I'm sorry but this is a very, very poorly constructed article.

What makes me laugh is the white knighters who sit there and watch movies that use the N word, and there are some out there. There are also rappers in an abundance who use it every 5 words in their songs. If you are going to make a word racist, make it racist to all. Do not allow certain groups to say it. Either all can say it, or none say it. I'm on the side of don't let anyone use it unless its in a historical context to highlight why the word is so bad.

This brings me to a point that a lot of people have been pushing. NO, it is not acceptable to say it if you are of African heritage. It is NOT endearment. Set the precedence. If you don't want it said, don't say it yourself. Here's the problem with society. All these words get thrown around. Young people learn them and because people like Eminem don't get told not to use it. If kids are listening to him saying in his rap songs, then they think its acceptable.

The next point, racism isn't a one way street. White, Asian, African, Aboriginal plus more. They are all races. If you hold a thing against any of them with malicious intent then you are a racist. If you are calling Kyle Larson a honky or whatever else there is floating around, you are racist. If you judge someone because of the colour of their skin, you are a racist. If you judge someone by their beliefs, you are not a racist. Pretty simple concept.

On a final note, STOP BEING POLITICAL. Seriously, the amount of people I have seen turn around and screech "orange man bad" because of something completely unrelated is a joke. People screeching that right now, automatically need to be ignored. They are hypocrites. Let us not forget that Joe Biden told a bunch of African American voters that if they didn't vote for him, they'd end up back in chains.

Moral of the story, Kyle Larson made a mistake. I truly believe it was one of those things that just slipped. He didn't mean to say it but because of some of the things I mentioned, its becoming integrated again by stuck up elitist snobs. Larson deserves a second chance. If an ESPN host can drop the word during a live broadcast and get a chance, so can Larson. Precedence has been set. Let him have his time out to correct his wrongs, but in due time he should eventually be allowed to return. This is all being blown way out of proportion. Larson said a nasty word but he didn't take anyone's rights away. McDonalds on the other hand, has taken human rights away by banning African people from entering their stores in China.

***To make it very, very clear. I do not condone the use of the word***

Just a side note, to the SJWs in the world. If you don't like what I have to say, you can take the prickliest 6 foot cactus and shove it royally where the sun doesn't shine. You are the worst of the worst in existence on Earth at the moment.

Such an odd thing to do. Was he not aware of the consequences? I admit that I am ignorant when it comes to NASCAR and it's drivers but I'd always presumed the negative image affiliated with the sport and it's fans was misleading.

It is as a rule. You have a bunch of hypocritical SJW's running around with their blue bowl cut hair saying it. NASCAR once had a bad history, but name a sport that didn't. Whatever you do, don't buy into the lie that NASCAR or any motorsport breeds racism. It doesn't. Motorsport is about the only sport that allows people of all races and both males and females an equal chance to race and work alongside each other.

Would be interesting had he said something offensive about the Jews, or something mocking the Holocaust...
Doubt he'd be being defended so vocally on here or anywhere...

Christ you can't even slag off Donald Trump without some rednecks getting all upset online.....

This is such a stupid comment:

A) jews are the butt of jokes ALL the time
B) are you seriously comparing the mass genocide of millions of people to saying that word? I realise the word has Slavery origins but it's being kept alive in the modern day lexicon BY Black people, no surprise that people who mix with blacks or black culture will use the word, but it only becomes bad when a white person uses it. Because of slavery, but why are white people synonymous with the evils of slavery? White people didn't invent slavery, white people were victims of slavery, the slaves of arabs were treated the worst and white people were amongst the first to abolish slavery. So I ask why are Whites blamed for slavery? People are so ignorant of the TRUE history of slavery, of which the Atlantic slave trade was a SMALL part.

and this phrase is equally valid:
Christ you can't even slag off Obama without some libtard getting all upset online.....

God damn it I dont know why I expected any sort of cultural or political literacy on a racing forum, but half of this comments are so dissapointing and depressing in their oblivious ignorance :(
yup most people are VERY ignorant of the real history of slavery....take the origin of the word slave, from "Slavs"...that well known non white group of people....:whistling:

You are kidding aren't you. Jewish people get mocked a lot. The SJW faction of society always mock the holocaust too. For example, purely because border protection is a thing to PROTECT people they screech. Calling people you don't agree with Hitler or Nazi's is in effect, mocking what happened to Jews. You are basically saying its ok to forget what happened to Jewish people and the German people who protected them.

As for the Jews and the horrible things people say about them, I won't even repeat it. Most times its green eyed socialists who attack them. Jews from Israel get treated awfully by liberal minded people because of what Palestine's government is doing.

On a final note, go ahead. Say something about Trump. 95% of conservatives do not care. In most cases they just laugh at the stupidity that comes out of some people's mouths.

Here's some context for SJWs on the "slavery" issue.

Slavery started thousands of years BEFORE CHRIST, so we have 4-5 THOUSAND years of slavery (at least) and most people only know of a small 2 hundred year or so slice of that history. And one race gets blamed for it.....truly shocking ignorance.

Whole villages on the coast of Ireland and UK were decimated by the Barbary slave trade https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbary_slave_trade.

The 99% of this forum who appear to be level headed people will acknowledge what you posted. Good luck trying to convince the 1% who will try to change history.

What the **** are you on about ? Everyone with half a brain and knowledge of history knows that slavery is not something that only whites did, but issue with Kyle is happening strictly in American cultural context, and in USA slavery and segregation WAS perpetrated exclusively by white people, thats why this is such a problem.

Kinda interesting, double banned.. online and IRL in the same time :D I wish banhammer like this worked on all idiots and cheaters online tbh

Seriously though, pretty drastic measure. Pewdiepie slipped the N-word in a livestream, when playing PUBG. He got away with it (sure he got major flak from media, but he still kept making millions after an apology)

Could be an accident. However, as with pewdiepie it may raise a question, does it mean he uses the word a lot in private, to be at risk of slipping it

Learn some actual history so you know the connotations of that word . and not Python sketches ! Even though that is very funny

Thank you.

The casual tone with which he says it is the part that I picked up. There's a lot of people posting in this thread who would value greatly from a history lesson.
