AC Lotus 98T @ Monza - Sat 26th July 2014

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
I must say, the difference in time when actually practising in race conditions is extreme around Monza with these cars.

My best hotlap (so optimum track, quali tyres, 10L of fuel, 100% boost, no engine limitation, no damage and a setup to go with it) is a 1:28.9. This amount of power kills the engine just before Ascari on an outlap with damage on. :p

By comparison, I can barely scrape into the 1:37's while practising in race conditions (green track, medium tyres, a liberal 100L of fuel, 60% boost, 96% engine limit, damage on and a vastly different setup to above).

9 seconds difference. I guess being over 30 kph slower in a straight line at the top of 6th gear might be an explanation to some of that haha. Still though, it's like driving two vastly different cars. It's quite the challenge to master both the qualifying-spec 98T and the race-spec 98T, and considering the amount of time I've driven the car this week, it's been one I've enjoyed. :D
Yeah, I'm kind of hoping that it will all equal itself out when the event comes around, because when I saw you guys were doing like 1:30's I was like :confused::confused:

I've literally only been practicing in race conditions.
Hopefully it'll pay off :D

Wow! Great to see so many signing up :)

@Rudolph Maré
You'll need to apply for a license to race with us. Don't worry it's easy and free :).
Just follow the link that @Lee Williamson has posted and you'll be on your way (thanks Lee!)
Please be advised, it can take up to 3 days for your license application to be processed, simply because we have A LOT of licenses to go through.

I applied, and I am still waiting, so I guess I will miss the race. Hopefully I will get to race these beast on a later date.

Sorry, but I will not be able to make this one, or indeed any Aussie races it seems. My ping is 550 all the time. I wouldn't even try this on rFactor 1/2, never mind AC.

Such a nice time to race, so this saddens me.

I hope this car gets used on some European servers soon.

EDIT: Went onto the server, and my own car was weaving in a straight line. Pretty dangerous just to keep it on the straight and narrow.

Bad luck that you didn't make it @Chris Stacey :(

That was the absolutely perfect event! Perfect qualifying, perfect start and a perfect race! That felt amazing!

Thanks Chris, Tony and RD for the event!:thumbsup:

Sorry for those who didnt make it:(, it was a good race appart from me being shunted at the start and my screen froze half way through but managed to ditch the car so no one else was involved

Look forward to the next one and thanks for the event guys:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I only made one serious mistake (not a spin, just 5 sec penalty), and I still got lapped. :cautious:
You guys were all like 6-7 seconds faster per lap...no idea how to drive this thing :poop::poop::poop:

Actually, I apologize @Justin Talent about saying it was your fault at the start when you and @Ashley Cowan touched, Now that I had a proper look at the replay, it seems that ashley turned in on you, sorry about that :p:rolleyes:

@Sun Levi ooo big call. Watch it from my chase cam as well and note the racing line. We went side by side fairly into T1 where I took the inside line and emerged with a bit of an advantage. T2 was much tighter. It would have been nice to have gone side by side again as later we had similar race pace but I hardly call it a turning in. I'd say we came together. Dude I can show you recent races where I was driven straight off the road at T2.

100% barely controllable....?what? 100% its the only way to drive lotus 98t. dont understand.kunos released this awesome car with huge hp and you guys want drive like sunday driver..why dont stick whit lower hp cars then?

i join if ping stays below 200

The world... you know that small area outside Europe, has what's call time zones.
So we have had our little "Sunday drive" already.

Haha I'm not being all serious of course :p But where was Justin supposed to go?:roflmao:

Yeah I don't know where he could go. Arh F is does look bad from that angle. I accuse you of photo shopping that for sure. Well at least go one frame back before my wheel is turned so I don't look as guilty as sin.
From my chase cam you can see I didn't have a huge amount of choice. He kept his foot in at t1, I kept my racing line t2 but even with my new triples I didn't think there was any more room on my outside at the time. Barring Imola Justin and I have been really similar pace so we can sort it all on track in a weeks time.

Actually hand me my super license back please.

After a love tap we still had room but with no front grip Justin ran wide. Now ok Justin could argue we shouldn't have tapped ... but I gotta sleep.
Its been fun.

Going in side by side in the first chicane is always going to be very difficult/risky, In that situation in my opinion Ashley is that you should have backed out, Justin had the inside covered, going in to a chicane like that I think if your on the inside going into the chicane then best bet is to do the switch back and get the best possible exit because the person on the inside for the exit is likely to run wide :p
