Have Your Say: What Cars or Series Would You Most Like to See in Modern Sims?

RaceDepartment would like to know what cars or series you think are missing from modern sim racing and would like to see added in the near future.

Sim Racing has been constantly growing over these past few years with more and more games available to enjoy across a wide range of gaming platforms, be it on console with the likes of Microsoft and Sony, or for PC players and even mobile devices, the choice of what car and track on which to play is fast becoming endless. Added to the fact that PC racing sims are for the most part compatible with custom modding, and you can very quickly become swallowed up in a world of choice when making that decision of which car you want to spend some time blasting around a virtual race track with.

However despite the growing amount of content in consumer available simulations, many games are still missing a number of cars and / or series that fans would simply love to see included in a modern day first party created simulation. Be it something unique from the American CORR off road racing series, or something as simple as a mid 80's under 2 litre Ford Fiesta XR2i, the wide variety of cars available today don't always tick all the boxes of a sim racing fans dream garage.

I've always been a big fan of a full series simulation myself, and with that in mind I really do yearn for a developer to go out and licence such things as the FIA World Endurance Championship or the full V8 SuperCar Series down in Australia for one of the top sims, however even putting those two aside for a moment I can still quite readily think of a number of cars I would just love to see added to a modern game currently on the market. The once all victorious Lotus Cortina from the 1960's, British Touring Car Championship NGT specification cars or the relatively new TCR specification cars that are quickly taking touring car racing by storm, these are the sorts of things I feel are missing from today's simulation marketplace.

So the question to you all is as simple or as difficult as you would like to make it:

What car or series currently missing from modern race simulations would you like to see added in the near future?

The inclusion of mods when considering currently available cars and series should be taken out of consideration for this question. We are purely looking at officially created and released first party content.

Sim racing is awesome people! Let's have ourselves a nice old debate... leave your own comments and opinions below... !

I'd love a sim that simulates a series. I miss the days of GTR or even TOCA where you got a full championship. pCARS and AC are great sims, but you get half a grid of cars at most, and 2 or 3 tracks.

I'd want a Blancpain sim, or a WEC sim. I want to be able to drive the entire WEC season, in any car, on all tracks. And then I'd buy a full season IMSA DLC pack for it - even if it was full price, for all cars and tracks. And ELMS DLC.

As has been mentioned … in touring car racing was the real sweat, blood and fighting for positions, really exciting racing!
I would love to see a complete field and set of tracks for 1990's BTCC, for DRM and DTM fields.
I would absolutely love a full set of cars and tracks around the 1970's European sportscar racing scene.

What GTL did for us was pretty brilliant (and the later wonderful Power and Glory GTR 2 mod).
This is bringing those vintage sports and turgid cars to life, even on modern tires, tracks and with modern safety equipment.

As has been mentioned, wonderfully simulated cars as in Assetto Corsa at the highest accuracy level to date is all great but what we are really missing so far is … the racing, what it's all about!

We also do need a compelling package of all the things that add to the excitement and the drama of racing (all of which we had already implemented in one form or another, and not just treated as eye candy but as integral part of the racing itself):
- full weather, lighting cycles, pitstops with all their drama and existing pit crews, failing vehicle components, wild life crossing the track, oil and coolant on the track, accidents with debris and several lap clean up times and proper flags with animated marshals, fans in the grandstands, …

We had that all already and yet as the world around sim racing focussed on eye candy, rendering quality and polygon counts somehow we lost track of the important details that give you the goosebumps when racing for position and the world around you is throwing wrenches into your wheels …

I want the racing back.

Whilst I would love Aussie V8 Super cars I think many retro cars such as old Ford Escort Mk1, Ford Anglia's and yes the Hillman Imp. If there was an option would love to see the old style cars as Hot Rods from the 70's and 80's.

I guess depending on where we come from in the world will define what we we regard as retro but another classic would be the VW bettle surely one of the most iconic cars.
