There are 4 Championships at stake:

All 10 Rounds compromise the Brazilian Championship (Both Drivers and Manufactuers)
The 4 'Blue' highlighted Rounds compromise the South American Championship (Both Drivers and Manufacturers)

Previous Winners:
*First season track has been run in Championship series*

The season opens in Taruma for the first time in its history, as Formula Truck ventures out to Rio Grande do Sul. Initial impressions favor the Mercedes-Benz drivers, with the trio of ABF Motorsport drivers hoping to take advantage of the wide open curves and long finishing straight.

Totti will also be looking to open up his campaign with a win in the Volkswagen, however he was more cautious in his initial outlook "I think its hard to assess, its a new track and this is a new team for me, so we go into the weekend with hope more than expectation, but at the same time we know that we have to perform"

With 25 points up for grabs for the race winner, a good start will help towards a good season, but as Totti knows, nothing is decided in the opening weekend so be prepared for the drivers to make a few gambles in order to boost their early season gains.

Cirino Glorious in Season Opener
Close racing throughout, Mercedes-Benz driver Cirino does enough to edge out Andrade for opening win

Above: Monteiro just about hanging on in the lead; but Cirino behind would soon make his presence count

TA, RGdS - The opening race weekend to this years Formula Truck series did not disappoint as tight 'wheel-to-wheel' action kept everyone guessing right down to the line. Qualifying opened up the day before the race and it was one of the season favourites who came out on top as Beto Monteiro, driving in the Scuderia Iveco snagged poll from Cirino in the Mercedes-Benz.

Less than a second separated the top 8 drivers and with a track setup for close overtaking action, the atmosphere was lit in anticipation for the actual race.

Beto Monteiro said "We qualified well, the truck was on the edge all the time, I could put it into situations and come out good... so we have to be happy that we start at the pole for tomorrow"

The race itself quickly sorted into various pitched battles down the field, the most notable being at the front as Monteiro had a hard time staying in front of the Mercedes of Cirino. Infact halfway through the race, a mistake sent Monteiro onto the grass which allowed Cirino through and also Andrade who had raced himself back into contention as the top two diced it out.

Once in the lead Cirino would not relinquish his position and although Monteiro would close in with the fastest lap near the end of the race, there was little anyone could do to stop Cirino taking the victory and opening race honours away from Taruma.

"Brilliant, we had a tough time getting this straight, but the race setup worked well and I could see Beto (Monteiro) struggling at times with his tyres, so we just kept on pushing and eventually forced a mistake to let us through" explained race winner Wellington Cirino.

Previous Winners:
2010 - Roberval Andrade
2011 -
Felipe Giaffone
2012 - N/A

Round 2 and we head to Londrina for a tighter circuit as the slow close corners will make for some impact style racing as 2 or more rigs will attempt to round the bend at the same time.

The long straights will suit the higher powered trucks, something the Wellington Cirino should look forward to as he hopes to continue his perfect start to the season. Previous race winners Andrade and Giaffone will both harbor hopes of stepping onto the podium again this year, as after a 1 year exodus we are back racing in Londrina.

At the other end of the scale, Paquin, Lopes and Jardim will all be hoping that they can finish this race after very early failures caused them to miss out at Taruma.

The Champion Reigns in Londrina!
Totti works for the victory as Andrade settles for 2nd once again

Above: The field duels in close quarters as Totti races away for the win

LO, Par - A muggy weekend in Londrina as round 2 saw the trucks return to an old friend. Previous winners at Londina included current racers Giaffone and Andrade, and it was the latter who took well to the track once again as firstly he would wrap up pole position, before leading over half the race until current Champion Leandro Totti managed to pass him for the win.

Andrade now has a pair of 2nd place finishes from the opening races; however today was all about Totti and the pace he managed to put down in his Volkswagen. Only 5 trucks would remain on the lead lap come the end of the race, as the field became bogged down in their own little battles.

At the other end of the scale, the Rookie 'Alberto Paquin again retired due to suspension issues. This time he lost control coming out of the final bend and a clip to the inside wall put an end to his day. Thats 2 retirements from 2 races and only 2 full laps completed, its not the way to impress a new employer and something that will need addressing, especially if Ford want to be competitive once again.

Leandro Totti spoke after his win "Its good to get a win early in the season, it relieves some of the pressure that im racing with and as ive said before, patience is the key, so lets hope we are rewarded for that approach"

I'd slow down a bit, make full use of the practice sessions and reduce that huge gap. The trucks take some getting used to, as shown by the fact you've not managed to get more than 2 laps a race. Don't rush through the rounds, take the time to learn the tracks, the trucks, and have fun in the meantime. :)

Nice to see someone sharing their FTruck stories

Previous Winners:
2010 - Valmir Benavides
2011 - Felipe Giaffone
2012 - Wellington Cirino

Almost 1/3 of the Calender complete once Round 3 is out of the way, as we head to Caruaru, a track that has 3 current winners still racing on the Formula Truck roster.

Another track with long straights, complemented by sweeping curves and a few tighter entries, we will again expect some close racing but with the Mercedes boys to again achieve. Last week's win for Totti continues his hope of retaining his crown, however Roberval Andrade's pair of 2nd place finishes prove that consistency is the key to winning a Championship and not just individual race wins.

Andrade said "Its good to get on the podium both times, maybe I could have won one or both of these races but we have to be happy that the truck is performing both at qualifying and on raceday". He continued "Cauaru is a tricky circuit, we need alot of speed for the straights, but that is countered with alot of corners at either end, this could suit other teams... but we will see"

Once again Ford will hope that Paquin can improve his performances and finally get some laps under his belt after another minor mistake caused suspension failure, whilst Volvo are also having a slow start as a manufacturer and will be looking to put pressure on the teams racing under their badge.

Thanks Andrew, appreciate you taking the time to read and also for the feedback :)

You are right in saying I need to learn how to control these beasts.. I thought I was ready, but Londrina caught me out (embarrassingly).

Thanks again.

Fogaca Puts Ford back in the Spotlight!
A photo-finish see's Fogaca pull out the shock win, as Andrade settles for 2nd once again

r3dr_zps41dc58b2.png

Above: Rodrigues continues with front end damage, caused by running Paquin out of the race on Lap 7

CA, Per - They said it wouldnt happen this year, but today proved otherwise as Ford once again came to the forefront of the truck series with a shock win for Daniel Fogaca, who fought his way up from mid-field to edge out Roberval Andrade who once again settled for 2nd place, for the third time this season.

Fogaca had no right to be challenging the leaders and it wasn't until the latter stages when tyre wear seemed to slow the front-runners that he worked his way up into the lead pack. Then on the final lap, he squeezed past both Totti and then Andrade to win by barely an inch.

Fogaca (DF Motorsport) said "Its unbelievable for me to be here on the podium, we dreamed about this, we hoped, but we knew that unless teams had problems we would probably be on the outside looking in. Today we had a decent pace, but the truck really handled well and made the most of the tyres... it sounds like the other teams had issues late on in the race, so that helped us and I just had to stick with it"

That victory gives Ford a real life this season and puts a new light on the Championship with another manufacturer putting out a competitive drive.

Unfortunately it was not all good news for Ford, as rookie Territorio Motorsport driver Alberto Paquin would retire once again, this time at the hands of an accident caused by Debora Rodrigues, who crashed into the back of Paquin, forcing him onto the grass and into the tyre wall. That incident forced his retirement, whilst Rodrigues would drive on to 8th place.

Just a quick note to the Moderators. Is this thread best placed in here? I didnt notice that you had a forum games section in the Off-Topic area which has similar career type threads.... so if you feel it would be best put in there then please move :)

Apologies, I just dived in head first thinking Formula Truck!

Championship aspirations begin to become serious now as we head into round 4 and closing in on the half way stage of the season. Last time out Fogaca pulled out a shock win both for himself and for Ford, as he battled through a stiff field to win out thanks to tyre stability in the latter laps. Once again Andrade finished in 2nd place, enough to consolidate his position as the leader of the driver points series.

In the Manufacturers series 3 brands are split by 7 points as Mercedes had a tough weekend in Cararau, allowing Scania and Volkswagen to put on the pressure for the prestigious trophy.

This weekend more of the same can be expected, with the track possibly favoring those who can find speed through the corners, as the sole start finish straight may not be enough for the bigger more powerful trucks to take advantage of.

Finally Its Andrade!
Roberval Andrade comes through to clinch victory, as Salustiano pushes him to the finish

race4_zpsa2f6dbdd.png

Above: Its close racing at break neck speeds, Andrade is in the picture tucked in nicely waiting to pounce for his 1st win of the season
GO, Goi - At last some said, as Andrade crossed the line to win for his Ticket Car Corinthians team. Its been coming all season by the standards he has set, but finally Andrade managed to outlast the field and collect his first and well earned win at Goiania.

The race proved to be a war of attrition for a chunk of the field, as trucks would often take a quick cut across the grass and mud, leaving a few out of the race for position and most notably Beto Monteiro who would have an engine failure when he tangled with Rogerio Castro at the end of the straight that saw both of them spin off and retire.

Defending Champion Leandro Totti finished outside the top 5 and falls further behind in the Drivers Championship, whilst Mercedes- Benz had almost a perfect weekend with scoring finishes from 2nd thru 4th to stretch out a lead in the Manufacturers category.

Finally some good news for Alberto Paquin who finished his first race of the season at the 4th attempt. It could have been alot better than it was, as at the halfway stage he was riding in 10th and look good for a points finish. Alas a tangle with Gomes and then Giaffone put paid to that hope and Paquin limped home with a battered looking Ford in 24th place.
