Quite every one is on the list twice because, even if you CAN sign a Rookie in a good position you're not obliged to do it. This way teams bellow you (for Rookie signings) are written here because they could sign the Rookies if you or Lotus don't sign them.

Japanese car manufacturer giant Toyota has bought Prost. 4-time champion Alain Prost had bought the declining Ligier team from Guy Ligier just two years earlier but financial struggles coupled with a difficult relationship with engine supplier Peugeot had worsened teh situation.

Toyota, who won the WRC constructor's title last year, will retire from WRC as well as Le Mans and concentrate solely on Formula One from 2000 onwards. Olivier Panis will continue in the team and help with the development of new car with his experience. His new teammate will be promising Italian Giancarlo Fisichella who will swap seats with Jacques Villeneuve who joins the BRM squad.
