You can't compare this simulation game to driving an actual F1 car, alonso is an amazing F1 driver not an amazing sim racer. You also have to take into account that he likely did not spend that much time with the sim, he is a busy guy and this simulator competition is just another PR scheme to bring attention and money to the company, i doubt alonso/massa really care if people beat their times, they probably expected it.
I'd be more interested to see how this works if ferrari were actually looking for talent using this competition and all they find is a few cheaters instead of what could be a load of really great drivers.
