F1 2016 Modding Questions Thread

Doesnt work for me :/ As soon as i want to open it my 3DsimED crashes :/

I think I know where the problem is.
1. step: Go to 3DsimED
2. step: Go to "import" in 3DsimED
3. step: When you choose the files you need to put the option to only search for an "F1 2016 - erp" files.
I think now it should work.

About half of the skins i tried are not looking as they should be but instead they have these weird "stripes" and "shapes" all over them.
Do you know what can it be or how to fix it? Ive noticed that some skins have more folders than others and some are only one file etc. 95% of the skins dont have readme or how to install file anywhere

I am doing career lets play on youtube and i wanted to spice things up for third season with new skins (as it happens in real F1 sometimes) but i need to somehow fix this as soon as possible. I dont want to take your time and bother you but i would really apperciate any help. thank you so much for any kind of help and for answer. (and sorry for bad english, it is not my first language)

that's extremely weird. I'd guess most are just .erp files you've replace meaning the mipmaps haven't changed which could be an issue but these also just like like paint file edits so the mipmaps wouldn't probably be necessary. How exactly did you install these? I made the blue Williams so I can at least get that fixed for you

Thank you. I installed all of them just by copying / rewriting them to folders where they belong. Some had more files and folders and were inside the F1 2016 folder, so i just copied F2016 folder from the mod to the steam folder and let it do its job. Some of them were just one single file without any folder so i found the folder with the file and copied / rewrote the file only. I tried about 6-8 skin mods in total, half of them work without any problems and those three i listed and shown above are giving me the problem with strange stripes etc.

Thank you, but i was not able to find any tutorials etc on how to install skins and mods with that erp program so because of that i tried picking skins that looked like you can just copy the files. Would you be so kind to perhaps send me instructions via PM? or link to tutorial? thank you so much.

I found the file in the .erp but how to import it?

EDIT: Found it, it is in the .pkg tab obviously

it's under the pkg files. You just import it through the pkg files menu. The PKG files tab is also easier to use than the all resources tab to locating it.

that pkg file alters only the chassis 3d model. No performance which I blieve is the xml file. You can still use other performance mods with this one (as long as you just import the textures to the modified erp/import the xml to the one with the textures)

cool! Hopefully I'll have the permission's to add the helmets bu then. Unfortunately seems like Supla isn't very active so I can't probably get my Giovinazzi and Stroll helmets added as they are based on his works.

Is it possible to edit the upgrades in career mode? For example when I start a new career, the Engine Upgrade is already at 2 or 3?

No. You can edit the engine performance though but not in the way of just career upgrades

Hi, so i tried using your dds files with erp archiver but it still didn't help. But i managed to find something important that may help deal with the issue. I found out, that the weird stripes and shapes all over the skin are only appearing when the sun is shining on the car. If the car is in the shadow or there are clouds, or its dark without the sun, it is perfectly ok. Since you guys are experts here maybe you will know know what it is? thank you

Could it be the sfc? Not sure what it could be. You could also try to verify game cache and reinstall the mods

I am sorry, but i dont know what is sfc I am completely new here and i have no experience with modding F1. Can you please explain? Thank you. And verifying game cache with skins installed will just restore the default skins and not delete any saves and not mess up career mode or anything? thank you

Shouldn't reset a career mode but I do recommend waiting for someone else to confirm it. The sfc is a file inside the erp which determines if a surface is matte or glossy etc.
