Nürburgring Nordschleife Announced for Assetto Corsa Competizione

In a post to the Nürburgring’s social media pages, the Nordschleife has been officially announced as coming to Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Back in the summer, during the SRO Motorsport yearly Press Conference, rumours among the sim racing community began to swell concerning the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Assetto Corsa Competizione.

In fact, the SRO Motorsports Group announced that it would integrate the Nurburgring 24 Hours into its Intercontinental GT Challenge. This lead sim racers to wonder if the SRO’s official game, Assetto Corsa Competizione, could feature the Green Hell.

All posts have since been deleted. But here is a screenshot of the Instagram post.

Well, several months of speculation later and we have our answer. A tweet posted by the Nürburgring’s social media team reveals the circuit in ACC. The post reads, “We’re looking forward to experiencing the legendary Nordschleife and the 24hNBR atmosphere at Assetto Corsa Competizione!”

Nordschleife in ACC

It seems then that ACC will soon receive an update including the 20.83 km circuit. However, there are many more additions Kunos is yet to deliver. So one might suggest that this content drop will be larger than any other before it.

In fact, a year before the SRO Nurburgring 24 announcement, the 2022 SRO Press Conference mentioned the addition of GT2 machinery to ACC. Over a year and a quarter since the announcement, fans are still awaiting these amateur-centric GT cars.

With GT2 racers also joining the Nurburgring 24 Hour fray this year as part of the experimental GTX class, could we see a selection of cars release alongside the Nordschleife for ACC? Only time will tell.

As yet, no date is announced for the circuit release. Furthermore, we do not know if the track will come with the GT2 pack. However, with development preparing for an “Assetto Corsa 2” launch next year, one must assume a December release is on the cards.

Yeah the SRO license is only for the SRO race, so 2024 season only for now.
Hey Rasmus, I was more hinting to the idea that they might extent the overall ACC DLC journey beyond 2023. So, more content towards the actual World Challenge 2024 season...maybe only liveries, but maybe also some more tracks? To me the development of AC2 meant that I did not expect them to make more content for ACC beyond maybe the end of this year with the release of the GT2 pack.

Well I know a hardcore element will always play a game, look at GPL but people in general will move on from ACC. I'd be surprised if the cars and tracks in it aren't replicated in AC2.
Not so sure, we have GT presentation in AC, but people gravitate toward ACC to race that class.
Could be wrong of course, and may be GT will be presented just as good if not better in AC2, but my guess is that ACC will stay for quite a bit longer and will be supported with patches and DLCs. May be we even see UE5 update.
And to be honest at this point we don't even know if modern GTs are planned for AC2 or what content type it is going to have.

To me, this is great news. Not because I am a big fan of the Nordschleife, I appreciate it, but not my favourite. Not because I am looking forward to race there, as to me it is one of the worse layout for racing I can think of.
It is great news to me because ACC is by far my favourite SIM to experience wet condition driving, both on the physic and graphics side. So definitively looking forward to enjoy lapping on the Nordschleife in rainy and weather changing conditions.

Just read Micha's (youtuber, car renter, daily driver at IRL NS for more than a decade and participant in latest real life NS24 together with Jimmer, if anybody has slept under a rock) latest Youtube-short writing his censoring of a showing racing "something" in Kunos sim, and confessed rumours were true, but not only that:

"But there is more! After a few laps on the sim. I couldn't resist to nitpick a few small differences of the digital version of the track vs. the real one. Davide (Game Director at Kunos) and Fernando (Lead Physics Programmer) were both taking notes. I was surprised after they told me my feedback was actually implemented. NGL this one of my proudest moments in the industry.

All I can tell you is that this version of the track is the MOST ACCURATE one of any sim out there on the market I've experienced. All the most recent changes from last winter are there, including all the curbs, different patches of the tarmac, and now even the way the trees grow. (That "umbrella" tree is super important for wet line as it creates a dry patch on the track)."

If there's a single person I had to pick out to trust regarding the modeling of the latest version of NS, then Micha automatically appears on my retina.

Not only due to the thousands of laps behind the wheel in everything from supercars to owners' fun little self-builds, his honest analyses, etc., but to a large extent also his meticulous track walk, and especially during the restoration last winter.

Just a single detail like him that winter describing the developed thrugh the years of cars passing by almost "invisible" dip before the Schwedenkreuz and its decisive effent on how to negotiate the corner, as well as tons of additional perfectionist details, make me completely relax and that it is in no way bought sales gas when it comes from his own mouth, always brutally honest, as he has always been throughout the decade, i've followed him.

Wondering if he caught a glimpse of AC2 as well.

Would be a disaster trying to race it online. But would be awesome for hot lapping. fingers crossed!

ONE item track modders will need to figure out, is a shortcut to start a race. Seems even if the Ring is the bestest track ever, folks don't want to crawl around it behind at pacecar speeds.

UE4 and UE5 are two totally different engines: it would be like doing a brand new game. There's no need for that.

Also, AC2 will *NOT* use UE5, they have stated many times they will go back to a proprietary engine after all the troubles they got in with UE4 during ACC lifetime.

The first statement is not entirely accurate, but will require some significant conversion effort with little tangible benefits, second is in reference to teasing, we all remember what Marco said more than a year ago.
We'll see how successful they are at pulling this off though, delayed AC2 release is not a good sign of things going exactly as planned.

Why not forget AC2 and release more DLC for ACC, please? we could have Okayama, Fuji, Daytona, Sonoma, and with this great game comes TCR, GT1, Toyota Gr Cup all under SRO licence, or if Kunos comes along out of SRO we can have Group C, DRM, DTM90, now with swap drivers and rain
