Advanced Gamepad Assist 1.4.3

This mod provides a highly customizable input processing system (Gamepad FX) for controller and keyboard.

The main idea is to connect your steering inputs to the car in a way that feels more intuitive and natural. This allows for better driving feel and car control, and it's suitable for all driving styles including racing or drifting.

There are many settings to fine-tune the steering feel to your liking, as well as additional features like a custom automatic shifting algorithm and enhanced controller vibration options.

Main features:

• Accurate steering limit, based on optimal slip angles
• Self-steer tendency that helps greatly with stability (similar to force-feedback)
• Allows for keyboard and controller driving at the same time
• Custom auto-clutch, auto-shifting, and controller vibration options
• Highly customizable settings through a UI app
• Real-time telemetry showing tire slip and more in the UI app

The goal of this assist is to translate the player's intent to the car as well as possible, and not to "stand in the way" or oversimplify the experience. It aims to provide an engaging driving feel on controller and keyboard, while being highly customizable through the included UI app.


Installation:

This mod requires Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch to be installed! The current version of the mod was developed with CSP v0.2.0.

DO NOT just drag the zip file into content manager like usual, unfortunately that doesn't install all the files correctly. The same is true when updating to a newer version.

There are two ways to install the assist:

If you have the lite (free) version of Content Manager:

• Open the Advanced Gamepad Assist folder, and copy the apps and extension folders.
• Paste the two folders into your main assettocorsa folder.

If you have the full (paid) version of Content Manager:

• Copy the Advanced Gamepad Assist folder inside the assettocorsa/mods folder.
  • If you don't see the mods folder then create it.
• Open Content Manager, go to Content on the upper right, then to Mods on the upper left.
• Make sure that Advanced Gamepad Assist is enabled (should be on the right side).

Once you've installed the mod, you have to select it as active:

• Open Content Manager, go to Settings on the upper right, then Custom Shaders Patch on the upper left, and Gamepad FX on the left.
• Make sure Active is checked, and select the Advanced Gamepad Assist script.

Usage:

The assist should work right away after installing, but for further customization you can add the UI app called Advanced Gamepad Assist Config from the side-menu in-game:


As far as AC's own steering settings go, only Steering gamma, Steering deadzone and Rumble effects will matter, the other sliders are ignored by this mod. The good news is that the UI app also allows you to tweak AC's aforementioned settings in addition to the assits's own settings, so really the UI app is all you need for tweaking the input feel.

If you want to drive on keyboard, set up the binds for it in AC's settings, then check the Combine with keyboard option in the gamepad controls. You'll also have to enable keyboard input in the UI app.
