Numerous media outlets are reporting that Melbourne is on the cusp of a new contract to keep the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park beyond 2015. Talks between Formula One boss, Bernie Ecclestone, and Grand Prix chairman, Ron Walker, were reportedly productive during the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend and the proposal will be put to the Victorian government shortly.

I love Melbourne. Like Imola its one of the most flowing tracks on the planet. Would be a shame to lose it.
 
I'd be amazed if it doesn't continue at Melbourne, it's considered the "sporting capital of Australia", and they usually do anything to secure major events.
I suspect this is just part of the negotiating process and politicians making sure to be seen being tough.
