The two directions onf Racer CG and NON_CG

As long as you were using a decent car and track I never though of Racer as being very visually limited before CG was implemented. But I guess that was just me. Ok, so most tracks were and are pretty bare but that comes with user created content that is such a massive size. I do not expect Racer to look like a pre-rendered ray-traced scene. I expect a self proclaimed "driving simulator" to simulate driving with reasonable graphics and not too many bugs with the simulation aspect. :p
Sure, it should look nice but it does not have to be over the top and try to compete with things like GT5 in the graphics area.

*shrug* Racer is not my project/job and on this topic I probably do not have the same opinion as most other users here. My opinions certainly do generally differ from those of most. I guess you and Ruud just have to ignore me.

A black sheep?

Sounds good either way... 24hrs after I just paid for an nVidia I find out I could have got a 25% faster ATI card for the same money haha ;) :D

some more info on my setup

I set up racer today using the config.exe as shown in the pic below and updated to DirectX 11 as you can see in the third taupo pic the older setting gave me 13fps and the lights are a bit too bright but the new one, (4th pic) although saying 19fps with the mountian view ( Mt Tauhara, I think ) the taupo track still run mostly above 20fps and upto 25 fps.

the second pic "Swiss roll" show a cleaner view of the mountian and scenery. and I've also attached a replay via my drop box where you can view the skid marks in the second or third lap around the hairpin looking almost like real live footage well done Ruud.
in the BMW M1 folder there is a CG folder auto-built but the Taupo track has non so I'm not sure if I should call Taupo a CG track or not .. but running Taupo in the non-cg mode the background scenery is so close it covers most of the track your driving on. well that's my 2 cents worth today .. here are the graphics I'm working with..
