notifications? disable, but still mass amounts of emails?

hi all, i have turned off notifications via email, but yet I get them every time, and there are massive amounts...how does it work or not work?

1) disable emails from this thread
2) disable all emails

have tried both above and in profile and still get notifications...???

also, checked off these: 1) Watch this thread... 2) and receive email notifications

still getting notifications...???
