Turn 10 Studios have revealed players of XBOX One exclusive Forza Motorsport 6 will soon receive a key to download the free Ford GT GTE DLC addition.

Similar to the recent Chryslus Rocket download Forza players will receive their key via Xbox Live Messaging service rather than the more tradition method of download on Xbox Live Marketplace.

The new GT made its international racing debut this season in the hands of experienced former World Touring Car star Andy Priaux and will be heading to the crown of endurance motorsport in a few short weeks, as the best of the best tackle the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour race in France. Run by experienced American operation Ganassi Motorsport, the new GT GTE retains close visual links to its illustrious predecessor whilst undergoing major technical upheaval under the hood. Powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 from Ford's EcoBoost line-up and up against stiff competition from the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 RSR, Aston Martin Vantage V8 and Chevrolet Corvette C7R this new addition to Forza should make an entertaining driving experience.

I don't know if its a typo, being used to combination of numbers and all, but its 488, or are there any entries with good old 458 as well?
for Le Mans? Yes. FIA/ACO rules dictate that all cars in the GTE-Am class be at least 1 year old. So all the Ferraris in the GTE-Am class are 458's.

Also, the screenshot has the Ford GT with yellow headlights (FIA/ACO regs) but the in-game footage has white.....

for the WEC? No. 488 in Pro and 458 in AM. Blancpain series has different regs so they may have some 488 GT3 in their AM class.
Remember GTE and GT3 are 2 completely separate classes.

Yes, that difference I know, perhaps I am mixing it up with IMSA or smthn. Do they get upgrades though? Or is this whole "1 year old" thing dictates against that? For example the PRO Corvettes are going to run a 2016 spec with a diffuser at the rear and dive planes up front and the AM will run last years spec with underwing and slick front bumper?

Correct. The Pro vettes wont have the downplanes at Le Mans due to low DF.
The Am vettes at LM are last years chassis. Larbre and Team AAI (driving the winning car from last year)

IMSA does not follow the Pro/Am like they do for the WEC so there are 488 GT3's in the GTD category, and a 488 GTLM in the GTLM (GTEPro) category.
