Difference between live reporting and ftp?

what it says on the tin really. i understand ftp, but where does the other one go? also, what can i do with the log files it gives me from the reports? is there any kind of viewer that will make them presentable?

in the dedicated server, theres checkboxes for ftp reporting and live reporting.

You can write code in your website which can interprete these log files. After a log files that has been generated, this file can be pushed via FTP to a server. If you write some code that will interprete such a file, the results can be published on your site automatically.
