Computer driver doesn't go out after port in the box

Hey, I would like to drive an offline championship. Now I had my first race today and had a crash in the first corner. I had to go into the pits and two KI drivers. I was able to continue driving the simulated repair time after the time was up. But it wasn't like that with the ki, it just stopped, shouldn't it theoretically go out again?
