AC Alfa Romeo GTAM/Ford Escort RS1600 @ Goodwood - Tue 29th Aug 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
As mentioned above, Tipo 33TT12 at Nordschleife will be a fun but almost lonely race for some of us. I took a quick view into Wikipedia. Authentic tracks (1975 season) for the Tipo 33TT12 should be:
  • Daytona International Speedway
  • Mugello Circuit
  • Dijon-Prenois
  • Autodromo Nazionale Monza
  • Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
  • Autodromo di Pergusa
  • Nürburgring
  • Österreichring (Spielberg/A1-Ring)
  • Watkins Glen International
Maybe Dijon-Prenois?
After a short practice: Dijon-Prenois has many tricky turns that need mechanical grip and it is quite narrow, except for the straight. Maybe not the best track for the Tipo33TT12. IMHO

Thanks for everyone that joined last night. I was a bit off the pace and went off a few times. Hopefully you all enjoyed it

As a bit of research into a combo for a Fat-Alfie championship I'll run the same cars on Batternbergring next week. It's a lovely flowing track so we'll see how the GTAm performs against the RS1600.

That was an amazing battle Allan. I may even go as far to say that was the most fun I've had in sim racing and its a shame your pit didn't work.

Just curious how many people changed tyres, i changed them and the car felt way better and help keep the car controllable to the end imo.
Congrats Jason, you were flying!
After getting caught up with Richard and Denis's tangle on lap two, I did an early stop just for one litre of fuel. Couldn't really get any pace after that and just a matter of trying to stay on so maybe new tyres and lower fuel load would have worked better.
Well done all and thanks for hosting Colin, I really like trying out some of these 'older' cars ( Mk1 Escorts were my preferred mode of transport back in the seventies) and it would be good to explore what else we could add to the mix.

Went for a safe set up, which worked very well.
Apart from Robert all I had was a flock of RS1600 to contend with, so a faster setup was never going to bridge the gap, and it's instability was always going to be a problem. So in the end the right decision.
Not sure, listening to the chit chat afterwards, what would live with the RS1600. If you BOP’ed it everyone would migrate to the Alfa, so that is not a solution.
Which ever way you go it is still not clear, other than I am happy with the Alfa, and do not mind the challenge of battling with the disappearing Fords.
Generally speaking it is only our much faster aliens that are out of range, and as for the rest, I can still battle away and quite like the idea of always being on the back foot against the RS.
:)

@JamKart22
Yes i had a pitstop in place,it worked in praccy,i always try it out b4 the race,so dont know why it failed.Shame really,i was changing the tyres aswell so it could have been a great race..The GTam is another beast which i think will be all over the Escort..Its my fav car of them all so cant wait for this 1...
