Lando Norris had an interesting answer to why Max Verstappen prefers to stay away from F1 Esports. The Dutchman is yet to compete in the Virtual GP Series.

E sports is complicated. Different drivers like different sims. Personally i have used Codemasters F1 games and find there just piss me off. I prefer rF2 and Race 07 that are way better. But everyone to their own. He may be sponsored by a gaming company that rivals them. Jean Alesi once refused to do a sim on a media day because his contract said he could not. (A X BOX v Sony Playstation clause) And some drivers may just be real bad at it. A player lost to Lando Noris for slowing down with a lap to go. So he should have won based on the time advantage he had.
