What steering ratio do you use?

Discussion in 'RACE 07 - Official WTCC Game' started by hagen72, Mar 12, 2010.

  1. Hi,

what steering ratio do you use when driving the touring or GT cars? At the moment I'm using a 1:15 (900° / 30 Steering Lock).

    400/20 most cars, some 400/25
  7. 540/22 to 26
  8. With most cars I have 390/24-26.
  9. Thanks for your answers! Seems like I'm using a pretty low ratio.
  10. default
  11. 450/20
  12. what do you mean that STEERING LOCK?
  13. Wheel rotation is the how much the steering wheel turns from full left to full right. I use 740 degrees.

Steering lock is the angle of the front wheels at full steering input. I use 25-27 degrees.

More steering lock allows you to catch more slides because the front wheels can turn more. Wheel rotation divided by steering lock is the steering ratio. A low steering ratio gives stronger response (often termed "fast/quick steering rack").

360/15 gives the same response as 720/30 because the ratio is the same, but 720/30 allows you to catch wider slides.

    Lotus Elise : 990/31.3 15.8:1
    Dallara F302: 13:1 -12.6:1

Older cars use larger ratios due to lack of power steering
    Ferrari 250 GT: 20:1
  14. thank you
  15. 540@ 15:1 which equates to 540/2/15= 18 in game. Its a good little sum and it works well Rotation of wheel divided by 2 divided by the ratio you require, equals lock in game.
  16. I use 270/20 for the Touring cars and Minis and 360/30 for pretty much everything else.
  17. I now use 540/22-25 for F1, and 540/25-27 for pretty much everything else.
  18. in 99% I use 540/20-22 but it depends on car and track

I need to start testing above 220 lol.

I mostly set mine at 220/26. I seem to handle the car more efficiently with the utmost minimum steering input.
  20. and jsut to be sure the steering lock is the games stuff ?
