WOW! Now that was certainly unexpected.

For me it wasn't entirely unexpected - it's kind of been brewing this season, with a lot of speculation about his future in F1 flying around.

I do wish him very much the best, and do hope to see him floating around the paddock from time to time.

We will maybe hear of Seb in Formula one as a comentator, or a fan who goes to the races. But hes in a bad chassis. When Alonso came back to F1 i thaught what is he doing, he to old. But the Alpine is a good car and he can mix it up with the big drivers. But Seb has had a good career so he has little more to prove. He is also a family man with a wife and chilldren so he needs to spend more time with them. Traveling around the world is not easy on a family and he needs to do something closer to his home and family.
