Vr camera shake fix?

Hi, I’m new to vr and sim racing. I picked up a pimax 8kx at the weekend and a copy of ac.

I’m wondering if anybody has a fix for camera wobble in vr.

Here’s a video that somebody made of the exact issue I have -

Is it the same on standard tracks?

The engine has trouble with large maps, larger they are and further you go from the starting point the maths gets "weird" and cars start shake a bit

(presumably you've already got all g forces and vr head shake settings disabled?)

Not sure if it helps, but I remember reading somewhere to set in car camera or similar setting to be "fixed to horizon"

Hope you get sorted

Sorted it!

I just wanted to provide an update. After spending my entire evening last-night playing about with settings, it’s now truly amazing!

The jitter was caused by two main issues:

  1. only using one lighthouse - which caused the camera to stray occasionally.
  2. having pitool setup wrong for the game I was testing (asseto corsa).
I can now play asseto corsa with shader patch (most setting ticked) and sol mod with a pitool scale factor of 2, 8x aa and 16 anisotropic filtering whilst hitting 90fps with 24 cars on track! I’m so pleased with myself …. the wife, less so

What was holding me back was pitool smooth motion. The idea is when the fps drops below 90 it will limit fps to 45 for processing, then do some witchcraft and make it appear like running 90fps. Great in theory but for me it would make ac always run at 45 fps and hammer my cpu usage at the same time. With it off I managed 90fps constantly - i was even able to add lots of eye candy and still maintain this fps.

Happy to post screenshots of my ac settings if anybody is interested.

For reference I’m running an rtx 3090 on an amd 5950x.

Now that's sorted I'd like to explore what assetto corsa has to offer.

I already have sol and shader patch installed. Any other recommendations for patches, car packs or tracks? I heard there is a good Japanese freeroam track available. Is it free to access?

Can you please share all settings of your Content manager? Both Video and Custom Shaders patch? You can save them and upload them

This is with the pimax foveated rendering off. If you turn it on you can double shadow depth and put all asseto corsa post processing settings to max but I can’t tell the difference.

Best advice is to instal something like fpsvr from steam and make sure you stay under 11.2ms frame time.

I found adding extra cooling to my case dropped my temps by 20c allowing the gpu to open up a bit more without throttling.

… also lock steamvr at 100% as pictured else it will do what it thinks, resulting in running less than native so it’s hard to dial in settings with it fluctuating the dynamic resolution.
