Test Drive Unlimited 2

i think its one of them games people are gonna either love or hate nothing in between i didnt really get to grips with it during the beta tried it with the wheel and it seemed ok but i suppose its a unique game because you have two full real places to drive around in awesome cars

Actually the physic I so far felt was amazing, because you could enjoy the speed without thinking if your camber is n the right set up for not overheat tyres :D

I was talking about game impact with the wheel... Frankly, even the interface was making me a lot of troubles, when I was trying to set controls sometimes it didnt react totally sometimes I had to click on it more than 3 times ... I didnt get used to the interface, dunno if I was just dump :D radio wasnt working :) but the ride itself was nice :) I guess all these stuff will be working perfectly in official release so I didnt close any judgment yet I only wanted to know how i.e. works some stuff :)

Just pre-ordered mind went for the Play.com offer of the Aston V12 Black edition is it? :D

We have so gotta have an RD meet up :p.

ooh! went for the Aston did you?! lol, 'da buzz in da hub' ;D is that the Supersports is the most popular pre-order at the moment, followed by the GT500! @Senad Really!? i thought it made the game look quite good! and the specs needed are quite high tbh! i'm having to get 360 rather than pc! BTW, that is the OFFICIAL achievement list.

Dunno... If I hadn't known it was TDU2, I could've easily believed that the Esprit was in the original game.
Specs quite high? I hope I won't have to upgrade anything, because that will lead to an avalanche of upgrades...

I think I'll get the Zonda (Steam). Would've preferred an Aston, but I'll be cruising in the E-type most of the time anyway :D

Love the way how the top of the car goes on when it starts to rain :) Thumbs down for the swingman cam used by IGN, but thats standard with non-racing sites reviewing a game.

Time that Atari drops a copy here for review I'd say.

I just found Czech shop with good prize, but with Casino :(
what do you think about the casino as DLC?

well there are 2 cars added to tdu2 from the casino you cant get anywhere else (Audi R8 Spyder and Spyker Spyder) So if you want the cars, it's better to get the casino for free, + you can't complete the game without it.

I think it's only fair that as TDU2 moderator, i do the review! ;)

i could prob. do a pretty good preview with all the info i have in my brain! 1 month to go to the day!

In 2006 a game re-ignited life into the racing genre, with a whole new outlook on what you could do with a virtual car, and a gaming platform. Its name was Test Drive Unlimited, developed by Eden games.

Now, five years later, it still has a fan base that some brand new games would be more than happy to have, as well as a number of thriving online communities. Test Drive is one of the most widely acclaimed racing series in the word, famous particularly for it’s in-cockpit view. So following on from the surprising success of an open-world racer was always going to be a challenge. The answer was to make a bigger, better and more publicised sequel!

Test Drive Unlimited 2 offers racers a unique insight to the ‘high life’ you would experience living on islands such as Ibiza and Oahu with millions of dollars. It’s barely 20 minutes into the game before your racing along side other racers with massive V8 engines. Earning your living is not as easy as it seems, however, starting off as a valet with a measly caravan and, we hasten to add, a paddling pool! You then get the choice of three cars to go into your basic two-car garage, a Lancia Delta, a Mustang Fastback and a Lotus Esprit, catering to the wants of rally lovers, muscle car lovers and super car lovers, no matter how old they are. Although the Lotus looks quicker, you may find the urge to go off-road on one of the many challenging paths, in which case you may fancy the Delta, or the Mustang for the power and muscle! You start out with a few pennies and a car, it’s then up to you to make the most of the competitions that appear around the island, to build up reputation, style and money to get better cars, nicer clothes, and open more racing opportunities. As well as progressing through an interesting story mode involving a television show.

Test Drive Unlimited was famous for its wafer-thin line between online and offline play, so can TDU2 as it’s become known follow suit? The answer is an unmistakable yes. The development team have kept the mainframe of Test Drive Unlimited, which allowed users to cruise together on the island, for many hours of driving and talking in beautiful surroundings. Doing a thing that to many people was the stuff of dreams, Eden made it a step closer to reality.
Add to this the improved club system allowing meets and parties in clubs like the famous Pacha Club and Privilege Club on Ibiza, and your left with a truly amazing game. As with anything released in to a swarm of competition these days though there are a couple of downsides. For one there is a casino added on as an extra for a price or as part of a pre-order bundle with other exclusive to pre-order cars.

The casino seems to add nothing to the game play, bar gambling, that could not have been included better somewhere else, without adding yet another layer to the game. The casino also enables the user to gain two extra cars, that are not available any other way, and you cannot complete the game to 100% without it, thus almost forcing purchase of the online only feature if you have a desire to finish the game. As well as this the game has a club exclusive car system, also an online only feature, in which the fastest cars of the game, i.e. Mclaren MP4-12, Aston Martin One-77, Gumpert Apollo etc. are only available when you join a club and the club buys the car, and even then you yourself cannot own it, and is only drivable through the club.

Putting all of this aside, in TDU2 you have a game, which in terms of what it offers in gameplay, eclipses all other driving games, two full realistically modelled real-world islands including race tracks and an all inclusive photo-mode for the many beautiful cars and landscapes, are features alone that sell the game. The graphics can be truly stunning, especially when taking on the role as photographer in one of the many diverse missions to complete on the game. Also the handling and physics of each car are vastly improved from the first game, and people should not believe a lot of bad things said about the handling, they should wait to find out how realistic the game actually is, especially on desert roads, with headlights in the pitch black night. Include more than 90 cars and extra features like plastic surgery, home renovation and the co-driver feature.

It will fly of the shelve directly onto my hard drive on the 8th of Feb. I have waited too long to purchase TDU1 and I am not going to make the same mistake twice.

Thanks for the preview!
