Is there any possible way to get RFE working on the Steam version?

I realize RFE isn't supported by the developers anymore; however, I'm sure there is some kind of work around...I just can't figure it out. There's a few mods I'd love to play, but without RFE, the mods crash the game pretty consistently.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes and no. Kinda. You can swap the rfactor.exe for the retail version one and after that your Steam rFactor will run with RFE working. However you will loose the the ability to run 6 peripherals.

What do you mean 'retail version'?

He's talking about the "non-Steam version". Unlike rFactor 2, there are still 2 versions of rFactor 1.

I'm not sure me (or anyone else) can tell you the answer here because I think its against RD's policies. Do you already own the Steam version?
